Seeing as the original canal was based on British canals, I
thought this might be interesting

Very interesting bridge, a unique approach to moving pedestrian
traffic across the waterways in England.
And it looks like the 21st century version of the Snake Bridge
Solution is coming soon in Brockport.

Many great ideas from England fit well into American life...
Fish & Chips
Neighborhood Pubs
English Muffins
And of course the idea of a bridge actually crossing the Erie
Canal for PEDESTRIAN travel... like the Brockport Skyway and
it's distant cousin the Snake Bridge. Amazingly the NYS Canal
Corporation implemented this last "English Novelty" as part of
it's Reimagine the Canals program.
Now if we can only get them to add a Fish & Chips stand
somewhere...

Mr. Tinniswood is marking the occasion with friends and family
at his care home in the western English seaside town of
Southport, according to Guinness World Records (GWR).
Mike, hearty stock you Brits...
