What has happened to the United States of America?
   DIR By: Doug K
       Date: April 29, 2024, 8:03 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Sadly we are witnessing a significant decline in American
       Intelligence & Reason these days.
Social media groups like the Stop the Canal Clear-cut (STCC) are
only a symptom & indicator of much deeper issues. When local
"environmentalist" can't tell the difference between a public
safety program and "deforestation" it's time to rethink how much
America should embrace these "social media" think tanks and
listen to those on social media that simply ignore the truth, in
favor of embracing farce & fantasy.
It's time to stand up to those in our community who embrace
their own lies when it comes to safety in our community, and the
safety of the Erie Canal system.
It's been said that "Those who cannot remember the past are
condemned to repeat it.” (George Santayana originally wrote
those words). In a 1948 speech to the British House of Commons,
Winston Churchill said, “Those that fail to learn from history
are doomed to repeat it.” The sentiment is the same, learn from
our mistakes or we will have to learn those hard lessons again,
       and again, and yet again...
Here we are again, social unrest in our country is turning the
United States of America into the Divided States of American
Politics, and nobody seems to want to call it out.
There's nothing new with COLLEGE STUDENTS protesting wars in
this country, in fact back in the day (1960s) students protested
the Vietnam War. The difference between then and now is very
stark, the wars being protested back then were wars that OUR
COUNTRY was involved in directly, not so today. College students
of today can't seem to figure out that difference...but simply
put, it's NOT our war folks. Those in our education system, who
think protesting the Israel-Hamas war is "right", should be
asked why they think America has any place to speak up about
this... again, AMERICA is not at war, so why do colleges &
universities think we should get involved with ending it?
We should be asking WHY the local news & college leaders aren't
calling out these places of "higher learning" for their utter
stupidity in letting students look foolish.
And it's not just college students who are acting like idiots
these days. American news sources are all trying to report about
upcoming decisions from the Supreme Court on whether a LEADER of
the United States should have absolutely "immunity" from
prosecution for acts taken while holding the office of President
of the United States. So once again it's AMERICANS who can't
seem to look back in history to see what happened when other
countries had leadership that acted like they should have
       'absolute immunity'.
Adolf Hitler comes to mind when we talk about that type of
leadership. He thought he should have immunity from his actions
when he ordered the death of millions of people who were of the
Jewish faith. Mussolini was another 'dictator' who felt absolute
immunity was a necessary part of leadership in Italy during
       World War 2.
Sadly the United States can't even learn from more "recent
history" regarding countries today that have leadership that
uses the idea of "absolute immunity" to run countries today...
there are plenty of leaders TODAY that work under the protection
       of 'absolute immunity'.
Vladimir Putin enjoys ABSOLUTE IMMUNITY in Russia, which most
Americans see as a THREAT to stability in the world stage. He
orders the death of political rivals, and meddles with the
politics of many other countries in this world, including a
campaigns of lies & deception regarding our own country and it's
leadership. Russia is still meddling in US elections, and
Americans don't seem to care, especially those who want America
to be led by Dictator in Chief, Mr. Trump.
And Kim Jung Un of North Korea also has 'absolute immunity' and
look at how well that is going for that country and it's
citizens. Remember this leader has his finger on Nuclear Weapons
and seems undeterred in his quest to be Supreme Leader. And
again, this leader eliminates any competition for his job, using
       absolute immunity as the tool.
There are plenty more examples in Middle East countries today,
but it doesn't really matter, many Americans will simply ignore
those because they favor arguing this idea of immunity in the
Press and in the Courtroom of this nation, simply because a
disgraced, ex-president of the United States says HE needs that
immunity, to keep himself out of prosecution and eventual
       incarceration.
That is none other than Mr. Donald Trump, who's legal team
recently said that under 'total immunity' a US President "could
feasibly" eliminate a political adversary with an 'official act'
under an Absolute Immunity Clause. America AND AMERICANS have
become so polarized that many have abandoned logic & reason
simply because they followed the rantings of America's Dictator
       Wanna-Be, Mr. Donald Trump.
They don't seem to care about learning from history, in fact
most of these folks are probably unable to learn from their own
       mistakes.
After all, many of these people voted for Mr. Trump, TWICE, and
they are still mad about losing the second vote, the one that
removed Donald Trump from the Oval Office and into the
Courtroom. Just a reminder, the ONLY American Presidents who had
praise for these types of political leaders is Donald Trump, who
believes history should repeat in THIS country too, and America
should have leadership that has absolute immunity for its
leader. You only need to look at his failed Government Coup on
January 6th for evidence of that.
It's been said before, but it needs to be said again.... Wake up
America, before its too late, and we end up just like Russia &
       North Korea.
Learn from history, please do NOT repeat the past, especially
when it comes to electing someone aspiring to be the Supreme
Leader of the Divided States of America.
Remember this fact from history... The United States of America
wrote the Declaration of Independence & The Constitution because
they DID NOT WANT TO HAVE ANOTHER KING running this country.
And we certainly do not need Adolf Trump running our country, he
would invite people like Putin & Kim Jung Un to weigh in on how
he should rule over 'his subjects" in the United States of
Trump, and how he can have HIS FAMILY stay in power forever. Can
you imagine the MESS our country would be in with Eric & Tiffany
       Trump running things?

   DIR By: Doug K

       ---------------------------------------------------------
Well now its becoming obvious what is playing out across
Universities & Colleges across the nation... it's a lesson in
"economics though force", though some smarter people may know it
       by its real name... EXTORTION.
       What Is Extortion?
Extortion is the wrongful use of actual or threatened force,
violence, or intimidation to gain money or property from an
individual or entity. While the threat of violence or property
damage is commonplace in extortion, it can also involve
reputational harm or unfavorable government action.
So now we have a few college leaders giving in to these
extortion tactics, giving more 'financial aid' to Palestinian
students... how sad. And some universities are talking about
'listening to the grievances' of the Palestine protestors, who
have gained college property by force. Those college leaders
desperately need to restore order for the vast MAJORITY of
students & faculty who are NOT protesting like a bunch of
       idiots...
What else can this be called?
It's EXTORTION at its finest, and teaching the next generation
       of students a valuable lesson...
Look at how easy America can be "held hostage" to the demands of
the few in the wrong...simply by getting on the national news.
It's another banner day for American Democracy folks, people
whining & crying to get their way, thinking the rest of this
country "owes them restitution" for their stupidity and
inability to understand the real picture. They are making
demands that make zero sense and would probably cripple these
places of higher learning with ANY reduction in funding through
       divestment.
Of course those issues never even are a thought with Palestine
students holding their colleges hostage, have any of these
student groups called for their OWN COUNTRY to release the REAL
hostages taken over half a year ago?
Does anyone care or remember WHO started this Israel - Hamas
       War?
       PALESTINIANS!

       Is that a trend?

Words Matter but not to some in our Country
   DIR By: Doug K

       ---------------------------------------------------------
Words do matter, and the truth does as well... but not to all of
us, and in the same importance.
One thing is certain... Mr Trump's string of LIES seem to
increase the closer we get to Election Day, and also his ability
to "con" millions of Americans into believing his gibberish.
       [attachimg=1]
Whether it's the safety of Democracy in America or the SAFETY of
Erie Canal Neighbors along a hazardous NY State Canal System,
it's important to find the truth, and trusted sources of those
       TRUTHS...
Because many in this country now seem to think that lying for
personal gain is OK, especially when a certain ex-President does
that daily, and no one blinks an eye...
Pretty sad how many 'smart' Americans identify with & support a
liar these days... all part of what will one day be called the
       Trump Cult.

Re: Words Matter, and why some people don't seem to care
   DIR By: Doug K
       Date: September 2, 2024, 10:01 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Well, come to find out there's a "medical term" for why "words
don't matter" to some of us, and possibly every single Trump
       supporter in America...
It's called Confirmation Bias, read about it here:
  HTML https://www.webmd.com/balance/what-is-confirmation-bias
  HTML https://www.britannica.com/science/confirmation-bias
Maybe the best snippets of information from these two websites
is sumarized here, but we encourage all to read these web facts
       entirely:
       From WebMD:
Confirmation Bias is a psychological term for the human
tendency to only seek out information that supports one position
or idea. This causes you to have a bias towards your original
position because if you only seek out information that supports
one idea. There are a few different types of confirmation bias.
Biased Search. This type of bias occurs when you do research and
only look for information that supports your theory or
hypothesis. In our modern era, search engines help us with this
       biased tendency.
Biased Interpretation. This type of bias explains why you may
tend to interpret data and information in a way that supports
your opinion or hypothesis, regardless of the position supported
       by the data.
Biased Memories. This refers to a biased recall of memories.
Studies show that you may remember events that support an idea
you have more than ones that disprove it.This type of bias is
       part of what maintains stereotypes.

And more from the Encyclopedia Britannica:
Confirmation Bias is one example of how humans sometimes
process information in an illogical, biased manner. Philosophers
note that people have difficulty processing information in a
rational, unbiased manner once they have developed an opinion
       about an issue.
Another reason why people show confirmation bias is to protect
their self-esteem. People like to feel good about themselves,
and discovering that a belief that they highly value is
incorrect makes them feel bad about themselves. Therefore,
people will seek information that supports their existing
       beliefs.
Another closely related motive is wanting to be correct. People
want to feel that they are intelligent, but information that
suggests that they are wrong or that they made a poor decision
suggests they are lacking intelligence—and thus confirmation
bias will encourage them to disregard this information.
Sadly, not many people will try to correct this behavior, even
after learning it exists and they have fallen prey to it. All
part of the "I am always right "fallacy". Heaven forbid they
should see Mr Trump as he really is, or have an honest view of
their own bias, whether it's about the right leader for our
Nation, or public safety along the Erie Canal
It's just easier for some people to believe the lies they tell
       themselves, instead of the truth...
Afterall, we all have heard this old saying, "Sometimes the
       Truth Hurts..."

These two images sum up what's gone terribly wrong in America
these days...someone in the political arena lies and a
Republican candidate for Vice President praises them instead of
correcting the mis-information and denouncing anyone who would
make deranged conspiracy claims like this.
Words Matter, but not to that very few in America who only

What would Alexander Hamilton say about Donald Trump?
   DIR By: Doug K
       Date: January 15, 2025, 12:45 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Everyone raved about the Broadway Play Hamilton. It was seen as
a great story about one of the people who formed this Nation.
Alexander Hamilton believed in strong character for all leaders
of our fledgling nation and the play is about someone he viewed
       as "poor" in character.
Of course it takes a little more effort to understand what
Alexander Hamilton stood for, his beliefs and his conviction to
call out "poor leadership & leaders" whenever he could. He even
went so far as to accept a challenge to a duel with Aaron Burr,
who lost his bid to be President but back then the candidate who
finished second became Vice President. Hamilton made sure that
Burr would NEVER hold an important office in this country.
So what would Hamilton have thought or said about Mr. Donald
       Trump?
Here's his quote that says it all, and the story behind it.
“Hard words are very rarely useful. Real firmness is good for
everything. Strut is good for nothing.”
  HTML https://youtu.be/jy4JbOBNH_s?si=ezmE5p7Uu3KBJQWl
This webpage explains it as well, its worth a read, especially
if you are one of those people that also value good character.
  HTML https://www.fergusonvalues.com/2013/11/values-quotes-alexander-hamilton-on-firmness/
And Hamilton wasn't alone in the belief that any leader.of our
Nation should be of "firmness & good character". George
Washington, the country's FIRST president stated exactly the
same thing in a letter to Hamilton as America voted him to be
       the country's first POTUS.
       [attachimg=1]
Something to think about as we enter a time when the next
President of this country has a very poor character, and sadly
the people who support him don't value a person's character, but
prefer someone "strutting around with hard words" about our
       country.
Make America Great Again... IMPEACH DONALD TRUMP...AGAIN!
