STCC endangers Perinton Citizens!

This latest rant from Eerie Agte really takes the biscuit.

I put in a FOIL request several years ago for the inspection
reports including the Rizzo file here. Results of that inquiry
are posted at www.eriecanalfacts.wordpress.com
My FOIL request was 80% redacted because there was information
there that could jeopardize residents. I made further enquiries
and found out the reason behind the redaction.
I am not disclosing that here for obvious reasons.
But this group, including Senator Samra Brouk & staff, seem to
think this is some sort of joke. I guess its the same attitude
of these ignoramuses that consider these embankments to be
perfectly safe, despite every engineer in creation telling them
they are not.
Many of the inspected Erie Canal Embankments have received a
Class C High Hazard - unable to inspect due to overgrowth and
trees
That is what the Rizzo Report says, yet these 'laymen' with no
background in dam engineering, hydrology, etc. seem to think
they know better.
STUPID STUPID STUPID people! They put a thousand people's lives
at risk!
I am amazed that the Canal Corporation & NYPA even bother to
reply to their nonsense!

Here we have the letter from the lawyer, denying their FOIL
request. The release of these unredacted documents could
'endanger life or safety'.
Why would they write exactly what the danger was? It would give
the game away, wouldn't it?
Why would the NYPA legal guys even want to get into it with a
bunch of mainly bored housewives with no experience or knowledge
of the subject?
The whole thing defies logic!

I guess the STCC group doesn't believe anything that didn't
originate from Facebook, after all that social media site is
prized on it's "factual accuracy and truth"... right?
And remember the most important fact about this Facebook
group... that started in 2017.
They are only FOUR YEARS OLD, and like any other 4 year old,
they don't like to be told "No".
That holds true for the two group co-founders, and just about
all of the group membership... a 4 year old Facebook group
acting like 4 year old toddlers who don't get their own way.
No, you can't keep dangerous trees on unsafe dams no matter how
much you might think you can.
No, you can't have the information on how BAD the embankment
dams are, it's classified as information that terrorist might
use against NY state.
No, you don't get to ignore the Rules about Earthen Dam
Maintenance or the Truth about Canal Embankment Safety
So the STCC group's founder, Ms. Agte, was told in a FORMAL
LETTER from the New York Power Authority, that the information
regarding their FOIL request was protected by terrorism laws in
this Country, and it couldn't be shared. And this Facebook Group
didn't believe it, what's new.
Here's all THREE LETTERS the group as received.

Seems very plain language to most, unless of course you wanted
to simply keep "denying the message and kill the messenger"..
which is what this group does,
They were told that the NYS Canal System was lined with hundreds
of miles of Earthen Embankment Dams...and they didn't believe
that FACT either.
The STCC group called them "levees", because they didn't want to
fight against the facts around Earthen Dam Safety
They were also told that those earthen dams were a danger, they
were unsafe, and needed to be repaired... and they didn't
believe that either.
The STCC group said it was "fear-mongering", because the group
simply choses to DENY the SAFETY issue of the Canal System
So then why do the group keep writing letters to the NYS
Governor, the Head of the Canal Corporation, and to New York
Power Authority...asking for information and clarifications that
they will simply REFUSE to BELIEVE at the end of the day?
Just to hear themselves whine I guess... because there is no
other answer.
They simply use all this fodder to post complaints on their
Facebook page about not getting information, or the "right"
information...or they claim they aren't being heard... go read
their comments about the latest reply from the Canal Corporation
to their FOIL request.

Truth is, if they want to be heard, they FIRST have to ACCEPT
what is being told to them about Erie Canal Earthen Embankment;
The canal embankments are Raised Earthen Dams... fact.
The earthen dams are in unsafe conditions, and haven't been
properly inspected... fact.
The unsafe dams fall under NYS LAWS, that say Dam Owners are
responsible to keep their Dams properly maintained in New York
State... fact.
The only "fiction" being spread about NYS Canal Embankments is
originating from the four year old Stop the Canal Clear-cut
group on Facebook...FACT!!!

It appears that it's just another time this Facebook group
thinks the "rules" shouldn't apply to them, or the trail they
walk on.The STCC group choses NOT see the earthen dams, so the
NYS Department of Environmental Conservation Laws don't apply.
The Group's Leader & Co-Founder says that the failure to give
FOIL records is just "fear-mongering" because the reason is
stated as "terrorism".
Go read the LAW for yourself...

safety of any person;
Sorry that the Stop the Canal Clear-cut doesn't like the rules
regarding Freedom of Information Laws in this country... move.
Sorry that this Facebook group does not like the NYSDEC Laws and
Guidelines around Dam Safety and Responsibility of Dam Owners.
Remember it's about ALL of NY residents, communities, and canal
neighbors, not just a few canal trail users in Perinton who
don't want their view changed.
Sorry that the STCC Groups members can't seem to figure out that
if they want shade there is this magic device called an
UMBRELLA, that will provide it any day, rain or shine.
Sorry that so many people believed they would find the answer to
Erie Canal Safety & Canal Embankment Repair on a Facebook group
with such a bias against public safety.
Now that the NY Canal Corporation has released a new website,
with all the reasons why it's so important to protect the Erie
Canal "at-risk" population at large from unsafe earthen
embankment dams, the STCC Facebook group has been perplexed on
how to answer that question of "public safety", they keep trying
to ignore.
They still cry "fear-mongering"... even in the face of NYS laws
stating that the issue of RISK to human life is REAL, and they
can't see the information... not good enough they say.
Sadly the Canal Corporation must be more AFRAID that this
Facebook group, who has scoffed at community safety, and
denounced unsafe earthen dams already, would probably post all
the information on their FB page, not knowing what the reports
were showing. After all, the group simply dismisses hundreds of
pages of Dam Safety Program informastion as " a lot of reading",
that they don't want to do themselves.
