NYSCC to Inspect & Repair Monroe County Sluice Gates -
General Announcement
DIR By: Doug K
Date: October 15, 2021, 1:32 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Some time ago, with the start of Canal Embankment Repairs in
Monroe County, some of "the public" (on Facebook) went on the
record stating that the New York State Canal Corporation needed
to be "proactive" with their communication methods.
They asked for a more timely dispensing of information to
happen, especially when it come to earthen embankment clearing.
And this week the NYS Canal Corporation put this announcements
up on Twitter, and Facebook, about some Canal Embankment
features that will be inspected, which would include "clearing"
that was NOT part of their Earthen Embankment work, but needed
to occur so that the Sate of New York could do it's job, making
the Canal System safe.
FACEBOOK MESSAGE
[attachimg=1]
TWITTER MESSAGE
[attachimg=2]
And in true form, the local Perinton opposition group (that
asked for the communication to be improved) NOW THINKS that
means DIRECTLY contacting the Facebook Group's CO-FOUNDER with a
"personal courtesy call". Here's is what that individual posted
today... as if the Twitter & Facebook messages weren't adequate
enough...for the rest of the public.
[attachimg=3]
It appears that the "new" Public Engagement Director, one Ms.
Rebecca Hughes, has now become the "Target of the Month" for the
Stop the Canal Clear-cut Co-Founder. I'm sure that September's
"NYCC Enemy of the Month", Mr Dave Mellen, is glad they stopped
blaming him for everything this Facebook group says they don't
like about Erie Canal Embankment public safety.
Because, for some reason this group NOW believes they should
receive "preferential treatment", and have DIRECT discussions
with the NYSCC, for any maintenance done.
It appears that a Facebook post, or Tweet on Twitter isn't
acceptable communication now, for this Facebook group.
Their Leaders are expecting more... even though they rarely
listen to or believe what they are being told by the Canal
folks. These announcements were exactly what the Canal
Corporation said was coming, at their last public meeting with
this FB group in Perinton, just last month. I guess it's either
short term memory loss, or maybe senility, that now invades this
Facebook Group.
This has now become yet another request from Ms Agte, that she's
now going to complain about, because it was not handled
"exactly" the way she wanted...
Good Grief! How long before Perinton comes to it's senses and
stops thinking this Facebook group is helping their safety, or
canal... because they aren't.
They have already cost Perinton any possibility of getting the
same Barrier Planting that Brockport received with their Earthen
Embankment Maintenance Clearing
They have already cost NY taxpayers hundreds of thousands of
dollars in extra costs to perform a SEQR study that just
repeated earlier Environmental findings on dam safety
They have delayed the repair of 100s of miles of unsafe earthen
dams, for 3 additional years, that has only increased the public
safety risk to the public outlined in a 2014 report.
And now they seem intent on showing the Canal Corporation, and
Greater Rochester, that the Perinton Community cares little
about public safety, and only wants to pacify yet another
reckless Facebook group that propagates misinformation and
holds to their own conspiracy theories.
Shame on the community for not standing up to these folks, but
it's even worse when it divides the Town Government and also
pits Village against Town in the cause of "public safety".
If residents stood in the way of a neighboring property owner,
who was trying to fix a public safety issue on their own
property, that kind of behavior would not be tolerated by any
local government, or code enforcement officer. But not in
Perinton, in fact some members on the Town Board in Perinton,
see nothing wrong with standing in front of a State-Sponsored
Earthen Dam Safety Program.
And some upcoming candidates for office are also ignoring their
responsibility to the general public they would serve if
elected, just to pacify a social meeting group on Facebook. For
what reason?... Votes? Can you say...pathetic?
What a mess Perinton is in... don't you think?

Agte = narcissist extraordinaire!
Why on earth does this woman think the NYCC should contact her
because they want to trim a few leaves or repair a patch of
concrete?
She's out of control, a complete crackpot.

Perinton Facebook Group Complaining about NYS Canal Sluice Gate
Work - Why?
DIR By: Doug K
Date: November 3, 2021, 11:55 am
---------------------------------------------------------
The original post on our Forum showed a Facebook Post, by a
group in Perinton, that somehow believes they should be
contacted DIRECTLY when any and all work is being done along the
Erie Canal these days.
The group's founder" stated she wasn't phoned directly by the
new Communication director for the Embankment Integrity work,
about this TOTALLY UNRELATED canal maintenance. She was quite
taken aback, and of course lively Facebook banter ensued.
Now it appears that the new "purpose" of this Facebook Group is
not to Stop the Canal Clear-Cut after all.
Instead they think they should simply Stop the Canal
Corporation... period![b]
Stop them from performing needed Canal Embankment Safety Work
Stop them from evaluating their Cement Dams along the
Embankments, called Sluice Gates, of which many are classified
"high hazard" according to the NYS Dam Registry
Stop them from telling the truth about the Erie Canal, that it
is a high hazard canal system that has many communities under
threat of earthen dam collapse.
Here's the latest on this Sluice/Spillway Embankment Core Sample
work from the Facebook Opposition in Perinton.
[attachimg=1]
And MORE of those COMMENTS:
[attachimg=2]
Now you ask why I'm pointing this out perhaps?
Well it's because the Group Co-Founder, one Ms. Elizabeth Agte,
originally posted that she wanted a "personal" message service
for all this work from the NYSCC. And at the same TIME the group
discussed this work, just a couple weeks ago. And the regular
members stated PLAINLY to Ms Agte, and the rest of the Facebook
Group membership, that this work was part of maintenance and NOT
that big of an "impact" to the Canal Embankment or Trail.
No canal devastation, no horrific maintenance work zone, just a
"minimal disruption & small imprint" according to one Facebook
member.
Here's a copy of that STCC discussion on Facebook
[attachimg=3]
So the question is why does this group still feel the need to
whine, **** and complain about something that doesn't affect
Canal Embankment Clearing?
[b]And the only plausible answer, they must feel they have
"entitlement & privilege"
A special note for those reading:
Pittsford, Perinton & Brighton are the ONLY Towns that have
citizens whining about "Canal Safety Work"... which is ironic,
since many MEMBERS of this Facebook Group (called the Stop the
Canal Clear-cut) are always posting "Follow the Money" about
whatever the Canal Corporation or New York Power Authority try
to do to fix the Canal System.
Hey, lets follow the Monroe County money... why it's agreed that
it's on the Eastside right? Between the City of Rochester and
the County Line... right?
Bingo... Pittsford, Brighton AND Perinton. Isn't entitlement in
action just lovely?
