Amerikkka's Obsession with Gun ownership

Josephine what were you saying about gun ownership?

Heavy price you pay. Forget about school and shopping mall
shootings. The real risk is y'all turning your own guns on
yourselves. A nation of the free but they are all borderline
suicidal.
Maybe removing violence and fear from US society would mean less
boys shootings themselves?

Like I told you pal, I think it's great you don't like guns and
love living in a place where the government arrests you if you
try and buy them.
I just wouldn't want to live there and I think my ability to use
firearms has opened a lot of doors to me for experiences I would
not have if I wasn't able to use them.
But, again, good for you not wanting them and thinking only
government workers should have them!
Anyway, here are some of my guns, and the experiences this
hobby/interests in firearms allows me to have, including the
1845 British East India Company musket I bought on a whim last
summer.
As well as the Henry rifle that has a cracked receiver I've been
working on getting fixed: I think I might just tig weld it
myself and then grind it down.
See, if you own them and can work/fix them, it opens a lot of
doors for you, even worldwide.
I noticed this all over the world, in SOM, IRQ/AFG etc, going
where I go, because I can use these machines, and operate and
repair them, it gives me a leg up on mist tourists.
And now, on this military contract, it's paying me + $11,000 a
month to have this skill.
And you know what?
It's been one hell of a ride the last 20 years let me tell you.

So you are a rifle instructor? You run recruits through weapons
training?

No, I do not do small arms instruction on this contract, but I
have before.
But the prior experience was key to me getting this job.
I can't go into what I do specially, due to the non disclosure
agreements I had to sign.
What I can say is that I work instructing foreign military
personnel in technical training for the operation and
maintenance of American-made military equipment on a foreign
military sales contract that the U.S. Department of Defense
administers.
My direct supervisors are foreign military officers, of two
nations actually.
It is an interesting workplace.

Working for foreign military would mean most UK security
personnel see their security clearance revoked. My MI6 mate will
not even entertain conversations about working with tech guys
overseas in case it compromises him.

I don't have any idea about any of that stuff.
My response was directed at your saying my ability to use/repair
firearms was 'silly' and 'stupid' for a non-military person have
and that I would 'put my eye out' with a gun by using it.
All I know is that the fact that I was raised hunting in Alaska,
have experience working with U.S. and foreign militaries and
that I am used to using/servicing a wide variety of small arms
has been beneficial to me.

Forgot to post the pic of what was wrong with the Henry rifle.
It has a crack in the carrier axle.
It seems to me it's a bit of a design flaw in this gun, as when
this happens the entire barrel moves up and down.
I've never seen this before on any rifle I've worked on.
Working on these machines (and that is all they are) is not
really as complicated as you would think, as from what I've seen
most the problems are with cracking or overall wear plus
ejection/feed issues.

The M14 as carried in your video was not used by U.S. force for
long, but I still think it may have been one of the best "battle
rifles" ever made.
In fact, it's made a reappearance in AFG because it is so
well-liked.
See, you even intuitively showed a preference for a particular
model of one of the machines you so emotionally hate!
