/>black]The Facts about Mac OS X and security protection softwar
e
such as norton for mac and intego.
Why you Don't need to use an anti virus software for a mac?
I get questions about OS 10 and mac security all of the time on
other forums and just personaly all of the time. Now technically
macs are just as vulnerable as PC's the only difference/reason
you don't hear about mac's getting viruses is because there just
isn't enough of them for the hackers and virus creators to
really care about, their is even a yearly demonstration on how
easy it is to "hack" a mac. At the time of this post there is
only a few known infections for mac's, so as you can plainly see
where this is going there is NO need to buy or use an anti virus
or anti malware program on a mac.
Does OS X offer any protection?
Yes a mac does offer a great firewall, also apple is great at
releasing updates regularly for security. If apple gets a report
about a vulnerability they will push out an update for it. But
as said this is because of the low number of known viruses and
malware that are coded for a mac. It runs on the same principal
of why you cannot run a windows app on a mac and why you cannot
run a mac application on a PC. Simple as that.
[u]Conclusion
So you don't need to worry about this on a mac, just remember to
browse the web safely and responsibly, if you come accross a
page that does not look right then don't give them any
information at all and leave the site right away.
