Making your computer faster.

[glow=red,2,300]Warning![/glow]
Unless you know what you are doing only attempt PART 1 of this
tutorial.
I'm not responsable for any mistakes you make.
[glow=red,2,300]Part 1 - Software[/glow]
Cleaning out your computer is like watching paint dry...
It gets boring. so make sure you have something else you could
be doing when I tell you what to do next :)
Almost every computer in the world (exept the ones that have
been wiped or trached by viruses)
will have software like ... '1 click maintenance', 'Tune-up',
'Reg-Cure' etc...
These are all good programs for cleaning out the junk in your
computer.
BUT none (not 100% on this) will empty your 'prefetch' folder.
Your Prefetch folder is a 'cache' type folder that holds
information about programs you'v opened, and if you don't empty
it, It just gets bigger, and bigger, and bigger until eventually
it takes up LOADS of room on you'r hard drive.
To empty this folder its simple, (Windows OS's only!)
Go into your start menu and select 'Search' from the list.
Then click the 'All Files and Folders' option and search for
'prefetch'.
OR go into C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch and then delete everything in
that folder (not the folder itself though).
and your done, you'r computer will be a little bit faster, don't
forget though -
- Do this once a week (or two)
- Run your other programs to make sure you always have your
computer at its best.
[glow=red,2,300]Part 2 - Hardware[/glow]
Along with the speed of your software, you need good hardware to
run that software.
DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING!!!!!!!
Most computers have parallel processing ram units Click HERE

/>for an image (Its the orange and yellow bars!)
It is strongly recommended that you have 3Gigabytes + RAM to
have a fast computer
Simply buy a larger stick of RAM (Random Access Memory) and fit
it by popping the two holders and gently pushing it in
NOTE: Never force the RAM sticks in, If they wont go the chances
are you are putting the stick in the wrong way around.
Or install a second hard drive if you dont have on already.
I wont go into how to install this, But here is a link.

NOTE: The second hard drive tutorial is not my own and is also
very technical, follow at your own risk.
Hopefully I have helped someone by this post.
Hondaman.
EDIT:
It would be great if i could maybe get some feedback on how I
write my tutorials and any mistakes I made, Thanks.

More space is piled up in the temp folders. In temp folders i
usually have over 100mb almost every time i check them, in the
prefetch folders i only have about 75mb

My XP told me access was denied when I tried to open the
Prefetch folder, tho' the little mouse-over textbox said the
folder was empty.

Try using the command prompt and type this:
Start C:\Winodws\Prefetch
Or go on the admin account and open it
