colton's fans might not wanna read this, it might hurt feelings,
sorry
By: aartemiss Date: April 21, 2012, 5:02 am
---------------------------------------------------------
i'm not hating on colton but i have some frustrations i need to
vent before i implode.. if you're a fan of colton's you might
wanna skip this because i'm worried it might hurt your feelings,
but i'm also worried that if i don't get it out then it will
turn to sour grapes and i don't wanna hold a grudge..
ok, here's the thing, remember when i said i would give him the
benny of a doubt unless he did the same thing the following
week, when i mentioned that i thought maybe he was deliberately
trying to gain deandre's votes by trying to sing falsetto the
very next week after he was gone? and what a sorry attempt it
was, he made it to the higher octave at the end of each phraze
but he couldn't sustain it at all and it was laughable that his
fans even referred to it as falsetto, let alone that they
suddenly decided they loved falsetto after hating it the
previous week.. and i jokingly said if he comes back with curly
hair next week then we'll know it's not a fluke and he really is
trying to imitate deandre (and what a poor watered down
imitation!)
well, of course he didn't come back with curly hair (the fire
engine red streak was an interesting surprise), but not in my
wildest dreams would i have guessed he'd sing earth wind and
fire.. i didn't even know it was gonna be soul music, i thought
it was just oldies, but omg earth wind and fire? of all the
songs he could've chosen he chose one who deandre has
specifically mentioned as an influence of his and how we raved
about how awesome his ew&f audition song was.. it made me feel
like colton was trying on purpose to take dre's place and gain
our votes..
i didn't even think about that at the time of his performance, i
was too busy standing there with my mouth hanging open,
literally stunned and hollowed out inside from witnessing the
most soul-less attempt at a soul song i have ever had the
painful experience of hearing! and then in hindsight thinking
of how dre would've killed that song, oh i was so pissed off,
and i didn't wanna take it out on colton but i couldn't help it,
and i felt guilty about it later when he ended up going home,
the one of very few times i couldn't bite my tongue from
insulting someone and my timing couldn't have sucked worse for
colton's sake! made me feel like a total ass, but not enough to
delete it bc the words had already been read and they were my
truthful opinion..
and ever since then instead of my anger going away it is sitting
there boiling bc it just seems like it was a calculated strategy
on colton's part and it backfired on him tremendously and i
can't bring myself to feel sorry that it did.. i do feel bad
for him in a way though, he is still young, we all make
mistakes.. but i think his efforts to play the game in a
strategic way made him lose sight of being true to himself..
even before the shameless masacre of ew&f, it seemed like even
some of his fans were uncomfortable with the lady gaga choice, i
think that's why he lost votes, i think many were disillusioned
because he wasn't being authentic.. that's just how it seems to
me at least..
anyway i just needed to get that shtuff off of my chest because
i don't wanna hold it against colton, so i can't just leave it
bottled up inside, i needed to purge it so i can move on.. if
it was just the weak attempts at falsetto or just the choice to
sing ew&f i could more easily chalk it up as coincidence, but
both? but the truth is i am just really starting to feel sorry
for colton because his efforts to fill dre's shoes, if that's
what he was trying to do, fell so pathetically short it's just
sad for him.. i had so much more respect for him when he wanted
to stay true to his christian stuff, even though it's not my
thing i was proud of him for following his own heart, but it
seems like he got so caught up in strategizing that he lost
himself.. even his fans kept saying he wasn't himself anymore,
from the songs he chose to the words he said.. just sad to see
someone shoot himself in the foot right before our eyes!
i'm glad i got that out because now i feel more sympathy than
anger, it's just a shame that it had to go down that way, but he
should've stayed true to his own passion and trusted his own
fanbase instead of trying to be something he's not and losing it
all.. i just really do feel sorry for him.. i'm not mad at him
anymore, i needed to vent that.. i'm honestly sorry if i hurt
anyone's feelings or made anyone mad but that's been bugging me
and i've been losing sleep over it and i just had to put it all
on the table so i can forgive and forget.. it was all just very
unfortunate..

Let it out Thia !
I understand you 100 percent and as colton being my fave 2nd
boy I;m not offended at all !
I agree I wasn't happy when he starting singing with falsetto ,
his falsetto is weak like Adam lovines & Alan thicke their
falsetto's irritate my ears. it literally hurt to hear his
falsetto, my daughter loves both deandre & colton ,but she went
off on a rant similar to you when colton sang falsetto, she;s
said stop trying to be dre and my daughter likes colton because
she thinks he cute BUT isn't crazy about his voice, but with Dre
EVERYTIME she hears dre sing she sighs & says I love his voice
WITHOUT looking at the video or show when he's singing.
I understand thia I was disappointed in colton for going along
& singing EWF & using a falsetto . his voice isnt strong enough
to sing soul or pull off a falsetto, it was all weak. I was
enraged when Jimmy said Colton september was good, I was WTF
that was the WORSE performance on idol , it was weak, & soulless
and this is coming from someone who liked colton from last
season & this season but as soon as he pulled out the falsetto &
the souless EWF he lost me as ANY kind of supporter,

I liked Colton ok but never rewatched any of his performances
like I will when I really like them.
The thing that I didn't like was when he got eliminated he
seemed so pissed off! It was the total opposite of when Dre had
to go. DeAndre went out smiling and just oozed joy even though
he was upset.
Colton stood there sulking. I thought it was a pretty immature
attitude.

thanx again gracie and les for understanding my need to "let it
all out"! ;D i honestly have no hard feelings for colton at all
anymore once i was able to purge that.. i was so sure he was
going to win the whole thing because he was playing right into
the game of gaining fans both with his good looks and talent but
also through those who share his religious beliefs.. from the
start there were some saying that he seemed more concerned with
"putting on an act" than with keeping it real, but his fans
insisted he was being true to himself, but i think that last
week the wool fell off of some eyes.. i mean how does "bad
romance" fit into "i wanna be a christian rocker and sing praise
and worship songs" ? not that i have anything the least bit
against either one, but i'm scratching my head trying to connect
the dots between the two! but i think some of his fans felt let
down and started splitting their votes with others, he pretty
much bit himself in the butt, and i kinda feel bad for him
because he is young and made a mistake, and only in hindsight
did jimmy admit that he should've talked him into different song
choices.. and here i am being paranoid again bc i think jimmy
was talking thru his butt, i think he deliberately sabotaged
him, just less subtly than he did deandre, not sure why, maybe
they're pushing for paving the way for a girl to win this
season.. so i won't take it out on colton anymore now that i
got the worst of it out of my system.. thanx again for
understanding my need to! y'all are the best! O0

I wanted to see colton's reaction when he got out, since he has
never been in the bottom, I stuck a tape in before I went to
work but, I didn't time it right so the tape ran out before the
show came on. Did he really seemed pissed off? Oh I would love
to see that, 'thia, will that be on one of the tapes you send? I
would love to see that one. I'm all about sabotage on AI, I've
had my own theories every year.

Maybe he was just stunned Lori. Maybe Dre knew he was going and
Colton didn't but they both reacted totally different. You
know how Dre had the attitude of let's not make this a sad
moment type thing...Colton was the total opposite..not a smile
or anything. He did attempt to redeem himself at the end when
he apologized for not being on his game the night before.
When they showed his moments on the show clip he cracked one
little smile over a kid with his hairdo but other than that he
looked pissed.

I was fine with Colton and PP until they started beating
contestants that were significantly more talented than
themselves (Dre and Erika...mostly Dre.)

it's on a new tape lori, but i can send it when i reach the end
if you want, unless they show a recap of it next week which they
probably will.. i didn't really pay that close attention to his
reaction, my wheels were too busy spinning out conspiracy
theories, lol;D

Hey, y'all. I've been in St. Louis for several days, so I
haven't kept up with the boards. Colton is my second favorite
and I was really sad that he got voted off. I am not at all
offended by your post. I'm glad you expressed yourself so
clearly. I'm not really sure whether or not Colton was
deliberately trying to imitate DeAndre. But I do think that he
got caught up in the game play, and lost sight of, well, his
message and what he was trying to do in the competition. The
Lady Gaga song was probably a bigger mistake than September.
September kinda reminded me of what David Cook did with his
songs, but it wasn't quite there. Or what Todderick Hall did
with Kelly Clarkson's song. It wasn't his best performance, but
I also couldn't help imagine what DeAndre would have done with
that song. It was better than watching Danny Gokey sing it, but
I am so not a Danny Gokey fan. But now that I mention Danny
Gokey, I'm thinking maybe you felt the same way about Colton's
September as I did about Danny Gokey's, so I can understand your
anger. oh man, I'm rambling... I think the Lady Gaga song was a
bigger problem than September because of the lyrics. I am not
super religious or easily offended, but I can understand how
Colton's Christian supporters could be disillusioned by the Lady
Gaga song. I am sure there is some contemporary Christian stuff
that came out in the past ten years, or heck he could have done
Rob Thomas' "All That I Am" which Rob Thomas has said he wrote
for God and he would have killed it. Sometimes I wish I were a
song choice coach for these contestants. I would've recommended
"River of Dreams" and a Hawaiian version of "Can You Feel the
Love Tonight" for DeAndre and some different things for Elise.
They should have that job lined up for me. (And I'm sure a lot
of you would be good at it too) :D. Anyway, just some
thoughts.
