       This is absolutely fascinating!
I wonder if Dre knows his actual range and how he compares with
       others.
Knowing this could possibly wipe out any doubts he might have
left in his head about not being good enough!
       Amazed!
Watch out Prince..give Dre time and he'll pull out in front!

       UPDATE
Okay, so...good news and bad news..
bad news..I found the flaw in my program if I pick up too much
of a tone it tends to move up an octave. So Dre does not reach
an A#6 ..and from what I've found so far, his range is not as
big as I once thought. (this is trial and error guys. :P ) For
whatever reason, Dre's would trick me, and only jump up one
octave, where as with most singers when that would happen it
would jump up three or four so I'd know something was wrong.
Good news...He's definitely lower than the A2 estimate, and his
range is still (and definitely this time :P ) bigger than all
       the other idols, at F2 - B5 (3 octaves 3 notes) AND I'm
searching for higher than that. Dre really has an easy time
singing the B5 (It's in those whoo hoo hoo hooo belts he does)
Meaning, I'm sure he can sing higher..it's finding the darn
notes that's the issue. I really think it's likely he can sing
       up to a D6.
I really think this stuff is fascinating. And I hope no one is
disappointed that Dre wasn't as large as I originally thought.
(Although, make no mistake..his range is still ridiculous. As I
said..it's still bigger than any other idol. )

that's ok! if it helps any- i think the highest notes i've heard
him hit are either in have yourself a merry little christmas or
ms. celie's blues. and the lowest would either be when i'm with
you, like you said, or in the ustream he did at one point (on
say my name). i'm going to try and figure this out for a
       minute... brb.

I knew his lowest note was in his silly little video with Molia
       B. He actually gets kinda excited when he hits it. The problem
was, it was so low/quiet that I had to figure out what it was
manually. At first I thought it was an A2, but I didn't realize
he got a step lower than that until I amplified the song. But
       I'm 99% sure it's an F2, now.
I really want to make one of those "range" videos for Dre, just
so we all can brag. :P Because even if it's not four octaves,
it's still absolutely ridiculous. (And by the time he's in his
20s, so long as he works on it...he certainly can end up as
having over 4 octaves. He reaches his highest notes with Belts,
not with a more "whistle" sound, and as he gets older, his vocal
chords should stretch, allowing him to sing lower...plus,
judging by the Molia video, he clearly works on his range.)

Ok I grabbed my guitar and figured out DeAndre's range according
to what I've heard him sing!
The lowest note is a tie:
D2- He hit this on the Ustream, part 4, around 1:15.
D2- On the Ustream, part 5, singing Say My Name. He was aiming
to hit a C2 but didn't quite make it!
       Other low notes are:
F2- On Turn Your Lights Down Low with Molia B.
G2- On When I'm With You
       His highest note is:
       B5 on Ms. Celie's Blues
       Other high notes are:
A5- On We Wish You a Merry Christmas
G5- On Sometimes I Cry and I Like It
So his range, so far, is: 3 octaves and 5 notes. That is one
more note than Michael Jackson! He can sing one note lower than
Prince, and as high as Usher!
Thank you mercfan3 for starting this topic- I have a pretty good
ear but I didn't know what to call the actual octaves.

       Oh awesome thanks!
I'll be able to grab that clip too :P
I'm getting B5 on Ms. Celie's Blues though. According to my
program. It's during the long note, not right away but when he
       holds it.
And I agree, he's likely able to sing higher. He's belting the
A5 and B5s. It's rare that a belt is the top of your range.
(Although it appears to be pretty close for Carrie and Diana)

You are right mercfan! It's so hard to hear that high! One
       second while I update everything!

Heh, we'll get him back up to the 4 octaves by the end of the
night. :P (really..next ustream we need to ask him to sing at
       his highest note..)
       The kid is belting B5s.....sheesh...

I can't think of anyone that can sing as low as a D2- I'm sure
there are lots of baritones that can do this, but not many R&B
       singers!
And yeah- he only needs two more notes and he can sing 4
octaves. I'm sure he can do it!! :)

Heh, I know..the kid is crazy.
So the D2 is accurate, it's not an Eb? It'll be hard for me to
get it on my computer thing. :P Thanks so much for the help. We
totally have bragging rights here. Our boy has a hell of a
       range.
Like I said, bite me Jimmy. :P
I'm sure Scotty could sing that low. But most popular singers
are tenors, so they probably wouldn't be able to. Paul McCartney
actually can too. (He's got a CRAZY range)
