Punz and Al meet

Rapunzel was very hesitant to enter this new town. It was filled
with people. Any of them could be a threat to her. But she
couldn't starve out in the woods and her throat was dry from
thirst. She'd been too terrified to come out of the woods
earlier but she knew that in order to survive, she would have to
come out now. She nervously tugged at her sleeve, making sure
she kept her eyes to the ground as she emerged from the trees
and into town. She was certain that she stood out. If her long
blonde hair didn't make her stand out enough. Her face was also
smudged with dirt and there were a few twigs in her hair.

Al was sitting in his little dark alleyway where he usually hid
out, when he saw a young blonde girl that looked completely
lost. She had twigs in her hair and her face was dirty; she
looked like she had just rolled around in the brush of the
forest. For all he knew, she had. He stood and began waling
towards her to guide her out of the crowd, suddenly feeling the
need to protect her, make sure she didn't get eaten alive by the
merchants around the streets of the town.

Rapunzel's eyes were darting around her wildly. There's so many
of them.. She thought, anxiously running her fingers through her
hair. It was than that she caught sight of a man moving in her
direction in the crowd. Her eyes widened in terror. Is he coming
towards me? She thought frantically as she desperately looked
around herself for a hiding spot. Though she figured it was
pointless to hide now, she dove behind a barrel.

Al's forehead wrinkled. Did she just... hide from him? He
couldn't help but chuckle. "Hey!" he called after her, pushing
through the crowd. He stood on the other side of the barrel.
"Hey..." he said softly, leaning around the barrel to get a good
look at her. She looked so tired...

Rapunzel stared up at him with wide eyes. Well, he wasn't
attacking her, that was a good sign. "W-what do you want?" She
said, trying to look as brave as she could muster.

Al could tell she was scared. When she asked him what he wanted
with her, he wasn't quite sure. He opened his mouth to say
something, and paused, contemplating how to put into words what
it is he wanted. He looked back at the girl, and said, "I
want..." He paused again. Might as well be honest, he thought to
himself. "I'm not sure what I want. I guess... I want to protect
you. You just seem so fragile and lost, and I know this town
very well... I don't want you to get hurt here. Because it's
very easy to do so."

Rapunzel studied him for a long moment. He seemed sincere and
something about him made her want to trust him. Her fear of this
man was slowly beginning to fade and she was surprised at
herself for trusting what he said. After what she'd been
through, she wasn't sure if she would trust anyone again. "My
name is Rapunzel." She said after a moment, though still didn't
leave her position behind the barrel.

"Rapunzel..." Al mumbled softly, scratching the back of his
neck. He smiled at her. "My name is Al. It's nice to meet you,"
he said, sticking a dirty hand out, expecting her to shake it.

Rapunzel smiled smally and reached her hand out to take his. She
shook it, not as cautious as she had been before. "Hi Al!" She
said as cheerfully as she could muster at that moment.

Al chuckled good-naturedly. "So, Rapunzel... What brings you
here to the town? And... why do you have twigs in your hair?"
