Waking up on the Beach

Cale dimly heard the crash of waves on the shore, registering
only the beat of the water.
He raised his head, water clogging his mouth, and croaked out a
groggy: "Where am I?"

Odette walked up to the young blonde man. "You're at the beach,
of course. I'm Odette, and you are?" She said kindly.

"Ugh- sorry, miss. Please excuse my manners. I'm Cale Hedgley."
Cale said polietely, getting to his feet to kiss the young
girl's hand. His head was swimming, but he knew he couldn't
neglect being courteous.

"It's pleased to meet you Mr. Hedgley, what's a dashing young
man like you doing alone on the beach?" She asked. There was
something familiar about him, but that didn't really matter.

"Er- to be honest, I have no idea." Cale said blithely, wiping
sand off his slacks. "One minute, I'm at... home..." It wasn't
the right word for the mental hospital he lived in, but it was
as close to home as he got. "And the next, I'm here. Am I
dreaming, or something, miss?"

saltwater out of his hair as he spoke. "Is there someone I can
speak to about this? How long will I be here?"
