       RVP and Bale

Its more just an experiment as I believe RVP is a bad choice for
the start of the season but just wondering what people thought
of this, I guess I just trying to get feedback on 5m or less
defenders. Also how good to people think Cornelius is, its
entirely possible he is a crazy bargin for 5.5

Good shout for Cornelius should start and be a focal point of
the Cardiff attack he is cheap at 5.5 but for me I think as an
opening striker I will pick the ones with good fixtures and
leave him alone have a look then see what happens would prefer
Anelka for same price as a starter only problem is they play
       Southampton first up.

My problem with anelka has become I see him more and more as
someone who will coast for his contract money rather than try
and do well and im not even sure he will start, I can see
Cornelius playing his heart out to prove hes worthy to be there
and is almost a guarantee starter. I do agree he is a little
risky with fixtures though....but you do get bale and RVP :p
I cannot find a bale RVP team that just doesn't have some horrid
weaknesses about it. Even if I could I tend to think RVPs
fixtures coupled with utds clearly weakened team, kinda mediocre
mid and a new manager will lead to underperforming, better to
pick him up later on when there are better fixtures, he will
almost certainly be cheaper and there is a better idea of how
good he might be. One other factor ive only seen mentioned
sparingly is how injury prone he used to be and has gone a while
without one, its not a great line of though in some respects but
hes almost due another bad injury spell....

RVP has played in every league game for the past 2 seasons.
That's not bad for an 'injury prone' player.
I think it's possible to build a team with RVP and Bale but it
requires knowledge of how the teams will play and who is
starting. Like Paulinho, there are a bunch of 7 to 8 mill
midfielders out there but picking them now is a real gamble. A
midfield of Paulinho, Kagawa, Schürrle, Nani and Bale could be
great at 42.5 mill. Then there are cheaper players like Sissoko
       (6), Pienaar (7), Zaha (6.5), Adam (6) and Johnson (7) that
could shave a few mill off your midfield.
       Assuming:
       Keepers 9
       Defence 23.5
       Midfield 40.5
That leaves 27 up front. RVP takes 14 leaving 13. This gives you
2 from Bent ((6.5) assuming move), Kobe (7), Wolfswindle (7) and
Ruiz (6). If you throw in Anelka (5.5) you then have Berbatov
(7.5) and Lambert (7.5) as options.
My team with RVP and Bale would currently look like:
       Keepers (9)
       Boruc (4.5)
       Marshall (4.5)
       Defence (23)
       Clyne (4.5)
       Collins (4.5)
       Turner (4.5)
       Toure (5)
       Luna (4.5)
       Midfield (38)
       Bale (12)
       Paulinho (7)
       Tonev (5)
       Kagawa (8 )
       Adam (6)
       Attack (30)
       RVP (14)
       Sturridge (9)
       Kone (7)

Oh yeah I realise hes played a vast amount the last 2 seasons
but I meant before that, he was sorta known for it and it could
easily resurface, I think hes had a good run to not have any
real injury problems for 2 years.
I really don't like that squad you posted, it just feels a
little weak somehow, like you have 2 powerhouses but how much
better are they than a lot of players? the rest of your team
feels incredibly weak compared to the players you could have
with a little more money. The non RVP/bale squads you hope they
don't perform badly but these ones you hope they perform well
and even then, they are so unlikely to shine I find it hard to
see it being a good investment.

Is my team that bad? I was quite happy with it ???
Hughes is the new Stoke manager and plans on playing Adam in his
preferred central midfield role. Hugs wants to be more attacking
which suits Adam who has not played much over the last few years
and when he was on the field he was out of position. Adam is
only 27 so should be entering his prime. When he played in this
position for Blackpool in the year they got relegated he scored
12 and had 9 assists. Many of these points came from dead balls
of which he has control of at Stoke. With Crouch to aim for I'm
expecting a big season from Adam. He is my dark horse for the
       season.
Kagawa was played out of position at Man U, being forced to the
wing by Rooney. Assuming Rooney leaves, Kagawa should be back in
the hole which Moyes has hinted at. Kagawa could easily rack up
12 to 15 goals from this position over the season. As the main
interlocking player to RVP he should get a few assists too.
Tonev is a pure shot in the dark. Is there any better for 5
mill? His role in the team is my first sub. He should play most
games for Villa in an advanced role.
All my defence are virtually fixed starters. They are not the
strongest selection of teams but through rotation you can negate
       some of the risk.
My front 3 feel half decent. Kobe scored 11 games last season in
a poor Wigan team. Everton missed a target man last season and
Kone feels like a positive fit.
There are some dubious players but I feel when you spend 26 mill
on 2 players you have to really hunt for the bargains. All of my
starting front 7 have the potential to be explosive.
It feels like Bale will be a Galáctico soon which changes a few
       things.

I do like the look of adam I will admit, kagawa im still VERY
iffy about, I just can see him being medicore, tonev is probably
the best you can get for 5m but that's the thing with this
setup, you have just worse players you have to kinda justify or
hope they perform better than expected, imagine you now have
hazard and corzola instead, having vanp just makes so many of
       your other positions vulnerable.
I really do feel vanp isn't worth it till much later on when so
much could change, I sorta had a go at rvp+bale from gw1 but I
still remain convinced it isn't going to work.

If you think how hard it is for us to put together a feasable
team with Bale and RVP, think how bad most of the other teams
with both of them will be.

haha! ive seen some real bizarre teams out there! though also
some really tight ones that look very good, I don't know if its
egotistical but pretty much all the ones I thought were good
look VERY similar to the basic setups we've been discussing. I
am not sure how much will be personal preference and how much
will be looking into things that extra level
       deeper....sagna/mertesacker/koscielny for example.

I was thinking to go without Bale; last year when Real was
trying to bring Modric, they weren't playing him at all at the
beggining of the season. If I was a manager and I knew my player
wants to leave somewhere, I wouldn't try to build my team with
him in it, regardless of his qualities.
