RMT - Sohei Tigers
By: Josephus Date: July 23, 2013, 2:06 pm

My plan this season is currently similar to last year and to
wildcard week 1. The plan hinges on Chelsea playing twice the
first week.
The early wildcard allows me to pick a team that targets just
one game week which should net me a few more points. In
addition, I'll be able to build a team from week 2 with the
knowledge of all the teams preferred starting 11's as well as
their formations. I also get to jump on all the early band
wagons and hopefully build up my funds. Last year I finished the
season with a squad value of around 113 mill. The extra money
goes a long way.
A couple of seasons ago I kept my wildcard and whilst I used it
towards the end of the season i felt like I wasted it. As the
season progresses the value of a wildcard diminishes as it's
harder to transfer out so many players because they have risen
in value and you won't be able to afford them back. If I choose
to make 6 transfers in a week later in the season that will cost
me 20 points (1x free transfer and 5 hits). I'm sure that by
targeting week 1 and the net result of building my team with the
knowledge of week 1's games behind me I'll more than make up
these 20 points.
In order to stretch my budget as far as possible, all the
players on my subs bench are the cheapest I can find. The risk
with this is if any of my starting 11 don't play then I'll be
down to 10 players or worse. I had a starting 11 in mind but
with the international friendlies there is the risk that some of
my players may be rested for this game.
I'm watching with interest Rooney's possible transfer to
Chelsea. If I save my team whilst he is a Man U player then I
could be in the situation to have 4 Chelsea players for the
double week. The downside is that once Rooney wears the blue
shirt, I won't be able to adjust my team again before the season
starts. I can make adjustments, its just that I won't be able to
then have 4 Chelsea players. As Chelsea play Man U week 2, I can
imagine that the transfer will be delayed till after this game
as there is plenty of time after the game for it to go through.
My current starting team is in flux so I'll post a list of
players soon. I had loads of Spanish players and the
international game for Spain is in S. America and I'm now
feeling uncomfortable with my selection.

Yes what with the Internationals just before the big K/O and the
possible DGW plus the Rooney and Bale transfer situation they
seem to be more than a few spanners in the works. At the moment
i am a million miles away from something i like. Here is my team
atm as it stands subject to lots of changes GK Mignolet Davies
DEF Mertesacker Garrido Clyne Coleman Collins MID Bale Coutinho
Walcott Snodgrass Quinn FORWARD Giroud Sturridge Lambert 100m
The lack of RVP is worrying but at 14m with hard early fixtures?

The internationals have me worried, I have my gw1 team, my gw2
team and my backup team if I decide the internationals will mess
things up!
your team is similar to my gw2 team wiseowl.
gk: mingolet
def: clyne, mertesacker, zabaleta
mid: corzola, coutinho, silva, navas
fwd: sturridge, giroud, lambert
subs:
lewis
whittaker, baker
quinn
My lack of RVP is using the exact same logic, also new manager
might not get as much out of him or the support team, it remains
to be seen if they are as good, I don't think anyone expects
them to be better.
Our differences are : zabaleta/corzola/silva/navas for
coleman/bale/walcott/Snodgrass. If corzola/Walcott is about
even, is bale making up for coleman/zabaleta and silva/navas for
Snodgrass. I am worried about the internationals spoiling my
plan and if that's the deciding factor for you I will have to
come up with a non international team as much as I can, my only
current team like that is:
guzan
clyne mertesacker Johnson
Walcott bale hazard lampard
kone lukaku giroud
I want 3 Chelsea players for week 1, I really think the
potential for a huge point boost is too good to pass up if you
want to try and get as many points as possible. lukaku is a risk
but I have a feeling they will give him a shot given how bad
torres as been and he seems just better than ba right now. Kone
vs Norwich might not be miles behind sturridge vs stoke.

I just wanted to say I tried to come up with a team to totally
avoid the int fixtures problem and its identical to wiseowls
team, which I wasn't even thinking about when I made it! The
only differences I had were jagielka and whittaker in for
garrido and coleman and Nolan instead of Snodgrass, it just
avoids the week 1 clash.

I'm creatng a team for just week 1 and assuming Chelsea play
twice. This is my current plan.
Boruc (4.5) Southampton are away to West Brom. Is he the best
4.5 mill keeper this week?
Sagna (5.5) Arsenal at home to Villa. Benteke is a concern but I
would expect a clean sheet. I consider Sagna to be the most
regular starter in Arsenal's back line.
Toure (5) Liverpool at home to Stoke. Maybe too much of a
gamble? As a new transfer in is he going to start? Also, the
Ivory Coast play away in Mexico and Toure may be rested wk 1.
Nastasic (5.5) Man C are home to Newcastle. Newcastle were a
mess last season and pre-season looks worse. Will Pellegrini
start him?
Lampard (8) Chelsea have 2 straight forward games at home.
Mourinho will probably play him. Being on set pieces is a big
bonus. I can see Lampard being used as an impact sub this
season. He stays calm and can keep things tight to protect a
lead or score a goal. Even if he plays the last 30 mins or each
game, he is coming on fresh.
Walcott (9.5) I prefer Cazorla but can't afford him in this
team. Walcott is still quality and is looking good pre-season.
Arsenal are home to Villa and often score highly in their first
game of the season.
Hazard (9.5) I have the feeling he is the most secure of all of
Chelsea's midfield.
Silva (9) Expecting Pellegrini to play Silva in the 'hole' which
will suiy Silva's game. With Toure dropping back I can see Silva
being essential this year. I also feel his position is at a
lesser risk of rotation and substitution. Trouble is Silva will
be playing for Spain in Ecuador a couple of days earlier. Man C
don't need to start him.
Mata (10.5) This is tough. Another Spanish player and Mourinho
has not spoken as highly about him as some of the other midfield
players. He is there because he was critical last year. New
year, new manager and new tactics......
Negredo (9.5) I feel that this guy will start. He is a target
man and with City's quality he must be scoring. He scored 31
goals in 42 games last season for Sevilla where he spent 4
seasons playimg 180 games and scoring 85 goals. As well as
knowing how to score he has great ball contol. At Sevilla he
played the lone forward role and so will fit in well with
Pellegrini's system. Another Spanish team player.
Wolfswinkel (7) Norwich are at home to Everton. It was a toss up
of either him or Kone (Everton 7mill) and the home advantage
swung it for me. He has been a success in Portugal and Holland.
Over the past 3 seasons he has played 131 games and scored 68
goals. For each of the past 3 individual seasons he has finished
with a better average of a goal every 2 games.
In summary, my biggest concerns are the international games.
Through in a few doubts about new players in teams and this
squad feels a little too high risk. Back to the drawing board
:'(

Boruc seems the best 4.5 m choice.
I still think mertesacker is better than sagna but I don't think
there is much in it.
toure does seem a risk to me, it's a gamble as to whether he
will start which you really have to get right.
I think id rather find a more solid 4.5 m starter for toure and
go with zabaleta, maybe coleman?
Silva might well not start, city have a lot of players to choose
from, they have a fairly easy first game so might not play their
best squad and rest them for week 2.
Mata has this same problem, Chelsea have quite a lot of depth so
could easily rest mata and play hazard. I like lampard though, I
feel he will come on at some point and his record of just
scoring points is hard to argue with.
Walcott seems good and I really don't think hes much of a
downgrade if one at all from corzola.
The problem is who do you pick instead of silva and mata, you
want guarantee starters for max points, if you get rid of mata
and silva you gain 19.5 million, bale is at CRY so he seems an
excellent choice, that leaves 7.5, lennon isn't a terrible shout
for that price.
negredo is a decent shout but hes a serious potential risk at
9.5 if he doesn't start or is in any way poor.
if you have sturridge instead of him you can upgrade wolfswinkle
to lambert who has better matchups and just seems significantly
better, im not convinced negredo is much better than sturridge
in any case given we haven't seem him play in the premiership
but im pretty sure lambert is significantly better than
wolfswinkle especially as west brom will be an easier matchup
than everton.

[/quote]
Despite Man U's tough start, it would be unreasonable to predict
that they will not score any goals. It's likely that RVP will be
heavily involved especially with Rooney likely to be gone. Lots
of players will have RVP and make him their captain.
I'm working towards bringing RVP in after game 6. I just hope I
can use the extra money in these early weeks to outscore him. My
captain choices may be essential to this strategy.
I'm also hoping that he starts off slow and his price drops. 14
mill feels like the max I would pay for any player. If he drops
in price then peopel are loosing money on him which makes it
less likely that they can afford to buy him back when he starts
to score. I can't see his price increasing much past 14 mill. If
you're not starting with him then I can't see too many people
being able to fit him in - thats one hell of a job involving
multiple transfers. If I'm wrong and he does rise to 14.5+ then
I can't see how he will ever score enough to repay that
investment.
The key advantage of RVP is security. It's almost certainly
better to be in the gang that owns him opposed to the gang that
don't.

I have a very similar plan to you with RVP. If he drops below 14
million picking him up almost certainly has saved you quite a
lot with the easier fixture list, if his prices rises im almost
happy if people start buying him as they will hugely weaken
their squad and im pretty sure anyone who has him in the team
right now will lose points for it. I don't think RVP provides
anywhere near the security he did last season. ( famous last
words.... )
