Gameweek 2
By: Wiseowl65 Date: August 21, 2013, 3:11 am

Assuming that you have decided to wildcard which I have, what
are peoples thoughts on strategies and current player focus.
Looking at the Fiso CTC it doesn't look like RVP is going to
rise in value atm and with the next fixture a tough match
against Chelsea is there a need to include him in your team for
this week? I think there are better options for game week 2 and
in my thoughts are Dzeko Lambert and Soldado I plan to leave
enough money available to transfer RVP in for the Crystal Palace
match in game week 3 and leave in as a permanent fixture.
Thoughts?

After a very disappointing gw and the fact that I just have a
weak subs bench I decided to wc.
I am going to get in RVP for this week at the moment. Im pretty
sure my other two strikers will be dzeko and Wolf, though I am
tempted by lambert a lot, im not sure how the new signing will
affect him though. I really want RVP in my squad and I just
don't like the idea of planning for 4 weeks till the fixtures
become great for UTD, it feels as though he will score before
then and I don't want to risk pricing myself out or having to
hold back a few million from my quad for 4 weeks.
As a slight sidenote, I think looking into 4-4-2 is well worth a
think. A lot of the highest scoring teams seemed to run it, the
fact that defenders seem to be rewarded much more now appears to
make the various roles more balanced. It could be a little
random but it certainly seems they have redesigned the bonus
points to try and work in this way. It seems as though a lot of
teams will struggle to score this season as well.

Agree on the defenders gaining more bonus this season not so
sure on 4 at the back the trick will be to find the cheap bonus
magnets. I plan on Lambert short term for fixture ease and to
monitor the situation with Osvaldo it could spur Lambert on to
perform even better knowing his place maybe under threat? Dzeko
only short term option again with fixtures in mind he will get
rotated at some point in the near future but his performance
against Newcastle was very good even though he didn't score the
chances he had could have been very different on another day and
on that performance I think he is a definite starter short term.
I plan on keeping the money back for RVP and look to include him
in game week 3 against Crystal Palace at home would like to get
Aquero in but finding it difficult too unless I downgrade a 7.5m
Striker, what midfielders are you looking at I have atm Silva,
Coutinho, Mirallas Nolan and Barkley and defenders Zabaleta Shaw
Toure Collins Coleman with goalkeepers Mignolet and Boruc who
have good fixtures and rotate to game week 7 when either can be
replaced with another rotating keeper, everything is all
provisional atm just trying to gain some extra cash on the early
rises.

The midfield I am currently looking at:
toure Nolan coutinho Oscar barkley
I don't want too many players from one team if I can avoid it (
though city look too good not to do this for now ) and I want
coleman at the back.
Toure seems a reasonable silva replacement even if hes less
attacking
Nolan has some reasonale fixtures and there aren't a huge amount
of guarantee starter mids for 7 m you want.
countinho looked amazing and I can see him being one of the top
point scorers in the FPL
Oscar see above
barkley looked great but obviously hes not a guarantee starter
and im not sure what I will do with him if he doesn't start vs
WBA or looks poor.
my defence is:
zabaleta toure coleman shaw whittaker
mingolet and token 4 m goalie
forwards:
RVP dzeko wolf
I am very tempted to : RVP>aguero and dzeko>lambert and use that
extra 3m to turn whittaker into ivanovic and play a stronger
back 4.

Just be mindfull of Whittiker yes he had a great opening game
and everyone is on him but I am lead to believe he only played
because Bassong was injured (he is expected back this weekend)
and the regular R/B Russell Martin was moved into central
defence just keep an eye on that situation Oscar is a good shout
but remember Chelsea are away at Man Utd he might not play if
they play 433 and he also misses game week 3, maybe hang off
getting him in until game week 4 he is one to watch but might be
subject too rotation so personally i am looking at Silva good
fixtures in a team that looks like scoring plenty and pretty
much guaranteed to start. I think im holding off RVP for this
game week as there are strikers with better home fixtures i
don't think he will rise in price so I will leave enough in
reserve to get him in for the Palace match.

Yeah I have whittaker in right now just because of CTC, im not
sure who I would replace him with for 4m though, maybe parr.
I want a Chelsea representative in there for after gw3, Oscar
was the best player I saw from them in gw1, I will be watching
tonight and make a final decision based on that added info.
If I could find .5 m I would definitely have silva in there.
The 3 million pound question is whether to have RVP in now
though....you do make a convincing argument for other players
though. more thinking required :(

I really want Aquero in but I am finding it very difficult
without sacrificing other areas which weakens the team I can get
a fantastic team without RVP but I think long term it will be a
big mistake and your going to need a very large sofa to hide
behind if you don't have him when they play Palace at home same
applies to Aquero's next few fixtures especially at home to Hull
great captain and points scoring potential so atm its looking
like Dzeko but dont feel safe from rotation with him.

I agree with everything you just said, im not sure how helpful
that is though :)
I will watch the game tonight carefully as in my head I have
players I feel I must have: RVP/coutinho/hazard and for the next
few weeks I really want city players as well. I have Oscar right
now as I simply cannot afford hazard and he seems like the next
best replacement.
Its very frustrating that having anyone instead of RVP makes me
team feel way stronger....

mingolet given
lescott toure coleman shaw / whittaker
hazard toure coutinho mirallas / cole
aguero lambert Wolf
play 4-3-3 and maybe have hazard benched for gw2 but have him in
there so it saves a transfer in gw4 then save two transfers for
RVP in gw6? ( you have a million in the bank with this setup )

It doesn't look bad, though have in mind that Nastasic will be
back shortly.
