4.5M Midfielders

We are all going to want a 4.5m to make up the squad pre or post
wildcard and at the moment there is limited choice in that
category to consider so after sifting through the list and doing
a little homework it appears that only Colback and an handful of
defensive midfielders are most peoples choice of a 4.5m
midfield makeweight but there is a solution and one player
that's seems to have slipped under the radar and offers
attacking potential Jermain Pennant, released by Stoke under
Pulis at the end of the season and re signed by Hughes and
given a on a 1 year contract Hughes has been impressed by him
on and of the field and todays reports suggest that he has gone
on record as saying Pennant set to shine which suggests there is
every chance he will start and get regular game time and what
with his price and the supply route to Peter Crouch's head plus
the incentive to repay Hughes for his show of faith in resigning
him he seems to be a snip at 4.5m with game time and attacking
potential. When Pennant played regularly he always seemed to
chip in with a few goals and assists Surely one to strongly
consider given the price and potential gains what's your
thoughts? he will be warming up my bench.

colback and Quinn were on my 4.5 shortlist as well as Oviedo but
you really had to get to 5 million before anyone else. I think
pennant is a great catch, I saw him and despite my general lack
of footballing knowledge remember him as being good from my days
of playing premier manager 2003....:)

It's a little unconventional but I seldom have a base price
midfield or attacker for my bench position. I like to feel happy
playing any 7 from my front 8 and will have 3/4 6.5 to 7.5 mill
players and rotate these based on fixtures.
At the 4.5 level Pennant is probably a good shout. I've got fond
memories of Pennant too but I feel as if he has never grasped
his potential. At the age of 30 it feels like he is now unlikely
to turn this around. If Pennant was in my team then I can't
imagine ever starting him by choice. If you feel that Pennant
will start 32+ games for Stoke then he would be an adequate
bench warmer.
I would consider some of the 5 mill options as a small but
significant upgrade. Kim at Cardiff is interesting having scored
in each of Cardiff's last 3 friendlies. Tonev at Villa has the
potential to play off of Benteke in a much improved team
compared to the one of 12 months ago.
At 5.5 you get Bellamy, J. Cole, Brunt and maybe Rosicky.
