Strikers

We all know the score with Lukaku and Benteke for the DGW they
are most peoples chosen front 2 reading around the various
forums but what is peoples thoughts on the other forwards.
Assuming most people are picking those 2 players in their
starting 11 and playing with 3 up top what's on offer for the
3rd spot in the team. With question marks over the fitness and
rotation risks involving the Man City and Liverpool teams who
both have good early fixtures I was looking at Sturridge or
Aguero for the 3rd spot but with the fitness issues surrounding
Sturridge and the Rotation risks involving the City forwards
Aguero Negrado, Jovetic and now Dzeko entering the equation
with his pre season form plus factor in the international
matches on the 14th with the Spanish contingent possibly rested
are these players now to much of a risk to consider and are we
better off looking at the likes of Giroud and Aspas and any
others? :-\

Aspas does look tempting as a third.

Aspas : Doesn't seem stunning to me, good support in the team
but total unknown as to how well he will do, didn't seem to
shine in celta so doing well in the premiership looks unlikely.
Kone: Decent 7, pick, has a good enough record for the price and
I could see him repeating his performance last year and maybe
give more pitch time could do very well, especially for 7m.
Lambert: I find it very very hard to look past lambert in
virtually any setup I have because he seems such an incredible
bargin for the price.
Berbatrov: Similar to lambert but might be in his declining
years so hard to know, is having a decent enough preseason
though.
Giroud: Having a very good preseason so looks like he will be
arsenals front man if they don't sign suarez, a decent price at
8.5 for someone who could get a nice haul.
Sturridge: currently a very good shout as its looking less
likely suarez will stay and he will be the main man up front for
a while at least, a good attacking lineup and everything going
through him could mean lots of goals, especially with their
fixtures.
Aguero: If it weren't for the annoying rotation thing I would
almost certainly have this guy, seems a total beast with great
fixtures, but you just don't know when dzenko/negredo and so on
will take the spot.
Dzenko: I find it hard to believe hes only 7.5 frankly, if he
were in any other team he would be 9+, again the only thing
stopping the insta-buy is the rotation.
Bony: A lot of people seem to have this guy in their team, last
season he did have some utterly amazing record but its hard to
know how that will translate.
Van wolfswinkle: Apart from the fact his name alone almost
warrants a slot, I think hes a reasonable pick for 7 million, I
can see him getting a fair few goals as Norwich channel their
efforts thorugh him, they certainly seem to be making a bit of
effort to be more attacking so it could pay off.
Ruiz: I think hes a little overlooked, he provdes a lot of
assists and some goals for only 6m.
Cornelius: A lot of talk about him being some prodigy and it
seems like hes the best 5.5 buy out there ( more so than anelka
imo ).
Danny graham: I just saw him and not sure how bad he looks for
5.5, obviously not the striker you want but if budget is
important he might be a consideration.

Wow that's some show of faith from Pelegrini for Dzeko we will
need to follow their last few pre season matches for any obvious
signs to see if he gets the nod on Mon19th and thanks for the
link didn't realise that Aguero was carrying a knock. Some good
calls on the strikers you listed Farside but I do like Aspas
who at 7m ticks all the boxes for the first gameweek but do we
want Aspas and Coutinho together in the same team or is it
better to spread the love around a little? he will start up
front but only if Sturridge doesn't start due to a lack of match
fitness and with Suarez banned looks a good call he has good pre
season form too with goals and assists. Giroud at 8.5m looks
very tempting he will start up front if Arsenal don't land
another forward plus with plenty of goals pre season and a nice
home fixture against Aston Villa to start is reason a plenty to
get on board .Is there any others that wet the appetite for the
first game week?

This is one reason im hesitant about aspas at this stage, there
are several variables though its hard to see past giroud given
his form, I still think lambert is a perfectly decent call, he
has west brom week 1 and has an excellent record, even if you
were going all out heavy hitter front 3 hes just so rarely a bad
call given you know hes a starter, that cant be said for a vast
number of strikers this season.

Aspas has looked good preseason. Even if Sturridge starts, Aspas
will still play as part of a front 3 which negates the risk.

On the Southampton forums its been talked about Lambert not
being first choice striker anymore limiting his game time with
rumours circulating that Pochettino is looking for a new striker
and Lambert may leave to get guaranteed first team football,
personally I cant see it but one to keep an eye on.

It is utterly perplexing isn't it. Hes clearly their best
striker and has had about 15 mins in 2 games, I don't get it at
all frankly...
