Im still a little surprised at cole over ivanovic, ivan seems
the better pick, I cannot not see him starting both games with
more goal scoring potential I would have thought.
My main reason for 3 villa players is that whoever you pick
above a villa player has to do something in the game just to
make up the deficit, If the villa player does anything at all
hes basically uncatchable in terms of points let alone the off
chance he does even an assist in both games. That's a big ask
for whoever you pick above them. There is also value in miracle
games, lets say weimann has two good games and gets a goal and
an assist, that's 11 points, and its not that unlikely he does
that. Lets say you pick a great forward and he gets a goal,
that's just 6 points, that's a huge gap they have to make up for
and that's after having a great game and being the scorer. Even
if, say, aguero got a goal and an assist, hes still 2 points
down! The 4 point base advantage is way, way too much to pass up
as far as I can see.
I agree that the dgw1 is kinda annoying, mostly cause it does
feel like its egg....basket. If you get it slightly wrong and
pick a Chelsea player who doesn't start you lose out on a lot of
points if for no other reason that your wc is mostly wasted
whereas if you get it right the boost is massive. Its annoying
so much seems to come down to guessing who will just play, not
       even who will do well.

The problem with Ivanovic is that last season he often started
in the centre of defence where there was less competition for
that spot. Mourinho plans on playing Ivanovic in his right back
slot which puts him in direct competition with Azpilicueta. Both
of these players are strong enough to deserve a starting
position so it is likely that over the course of the season the
players will be rotated. I'm sure that Ivanovic will start at
times in central defence but it appears that two from Terry,
Luiz and Cahill will be the regular starters.
Cole is up against Bertrand who whilst has the potential of
being a worthy replacement is still not in the same class as
       Cole.

As long as your bench is full of players who should start then
any risk is negated. One of the key advantages to the early
wildcard is that you are setting your team up with the knowledge
of who is starting and what position they are in. This knowledge
should give your team an early boost over the teams that have
not wildcarded. You should also have a head start on all the
price rises too. The double game week is just a bonus on what is
       already a strong strategy.

Ivanovic should start the first game against Hull with
Azpillicueta away on international duty in Ecuador he has the
potential to score very well but there are concerns of rotation
risk for the Villa match when Azpillicueta returns the safe pick
for me then is Cole, of topic slightly has Jose named his
captain yet if not I am assuming it will be Terry could play
       both matches?

"John is the club captain. I am more than happy with that, so
are the fans, so I think he has to be the club captain. With the
armband? Only if he plays. If he isn't in the starting XI, he
       won't have the armband.
I have not thought about that (who else would take over), but it
has to be like that." Mourinho
Another quote from Mourinho that answers one question but
       confirms nothing :-\

Two Questions first I read somewhere that the price rises after
game week 1 maybe locked which means we wont see any price rises
until after game week 2 does anyone know this for sure and
second its worth keeping an eye on the international friendlies
pre kick off as the Spanish manager states he is set to play a
young side in Ecuador which may mean some of the more
established players might not play or even travel good news for
Mata, Silva but not for Torres v Lukaku.

There are price rises in week 1. Last season my squad value
increased to around 101.3 mill at the end of week 1.
Here is the thread I commented on on FISO with my week 1
       wildcard thoughts from last season:
  HTML http://www.fiso.co.uk/forum/if-you-had-a-free-gw2-wildcard-again-this-year-t98020.html
One of my quotes from last year on the topic from a different
       thread:
"I wildcarded in week 1. It was something I had thought about in
previous seasons but I always held back because I did not want
to waste it. Last season I kept my wildcard till late in the
year and I used it because I had it; not because I needed it.
The idea of using the wildcard after week 1 was on my mind and
the double game week swung it for me. Looking at the fixture
list there were a few teams with an easy first game followed by
a tougher run and a bunch of teams with a tough first fixture
and then a good run. This also added positive reasons. I looked
at the season and knew I could work with the data at hand to
give myself a strong start. There maybe a better opportunity
later in the season - maybe not.
Overall I'm pretty happy with the way my start has worked out.
My only regret is taking Hazard out yesterday morning and
bringing in Bale. This was poor judgement on my part and nothing
to do with the wildcard. I had planned to buy him back in a
couple of weeks after a price drop. Now he represents a
potential missed opportunity unless the masses sell him after
missing week 3. There is an outside hope that once Chelsea start
defending their European Cup, Hazard gets a few games off -
especially with Chelsea's vast midfield options. I'm really
       clutching at straws.
I have been a little fortunate with some of my picks and this
may influence my positive spin on the week 1 wildcard. I did put
a fair bit of effort into my team selections so there was some
skill, although the difference between Hazard/Mata and
Rooney/Van Persie Tevez/Aguerro was razor thin.
I know of 2 more users on this forum who followed the same
strategy and we are all doing well. A couple of my friends
always wildcard in week 1 and they rarely have a finish outside
       of the top 20,000.
I have found a lot of negativity on this forum towards the idea
of a week 1 wildcard. Its only a waste if you fail to take
advantage of the situation. As long as the action is planned and
is not a knee jerk reaction to a bad start then I think the
strategy is sound and probably something I'll do next year."
My team value as of Sept 2nd 2012 which was the Sunday after the
       third game.
My current team value is 103.4.
My teams sale value is 101.4.

Thanks for last seasons post great insight on last years DGW and
also really like the look of your latest side I couldn't figure
out how to get Man City attacking coverage without
compromising my midfield still not convinced on Dzeko's game
time on the first match with 3 other strikers waiting in the
wings, your midfield is so strong it seems Silva and Lescott are
       the key to achieving this.

Just heard that Mata and Torres not traveling to Ecuador with
the Spain squad so good for Mata and real Doubt's now for
Lukaku's game time but Silva is in the squad hopefully shouldn't
affect him for the Monday night game baring injury.

It's great news regarding Mata. I had already accepted that I
should pick him and hope for he plays both games. Part of the
value in the week 1 wildcard is to max my points and the Chelsea
rotation could potentially take this away. I'm pretty confident
that barring injury Hazard and Mata will play close to 180 mins
each. Just leaves me with the problem of who to make captain??
