I thought having a list of less considered but potentially good
choices might be a plan so....
       gk:
hart: expensive, yes, but hes not going to let many in and could
well be worth the price given he gets more points than equally
       priced defenders.
begovic: he got a lot of points last season, played a huge
amount and could just as easily do the same this year, he avoids
clashing with your defence as is a common problem with good
       keepers.
       def:
evra: expensive but with huge points, how bad can it be to have
a utd defender in your team, even at that price? 152 points
mostly costs you 7m + in midfield.
vertonghen: on the PFA team of the year last season, he's pricey
but he could well play midfield this season and even from def he
       can score.
shaw/clyne; both 4.5 from Southampton, reasonably consistent
with a few good game week potential, hard to see many better for
       this price at the moment.
Connolly: the guy scored 5 times last season, granted hes now in
the premiership but that shouldn't be an utterly discounted
       achievement for 4.5.
distin/coleman: both 5m, they score a point for every 28 mins on
the pitch more or less, not terrible though still not competing
with bassoon at a point every 24 mins. Dawson from TOT is in
       this same category.
       mid:
fernandinho: city spent 30 million on the guy, I suspect he will
get games. The guy can score but also seems to dominate the
centre of the pitch, he could rack up bonus points on that basis
and seems to be hugely overlooked just because hes a more
defensive style, if he gets a goal or two early in the season it
could mean he has a go at goal more often and could be a serious
       dark horse.
fellaini: hes a little less attractive this year because of his
8.5 m price but he was SO good last season, a point every 16
mins is the same as corzola for 2 million less!
Walcott: he has the same points per minute as bale for a LOT
less, he didn't play as much as many last season so if he
manages to get more game time he could be rivalling bale.
arteta: what more do you want for 7m? hes got a great team
around him, hes consistent and if taking dead balls this season
could easily rack up some decent points.
dyer: 5.5 million doesn't get you much but hes a pretty good
option if you discount the horrible fixtures at the start of the
season...this might turn out to be a bonus if his price drops
and when the fixtures improves he starts to get you some very
       cheap points.
bellamy: could go one of two ways really but if a bit of the old
magic is still there he has the experience to shine on occasion
and might well be worth a go for only 5.5
wanyama: he scored against barca so he cant be that bad, he had
a decent record with celtic and for only 5m could be an insane
bargin. there is the question of if he will play but for a
reported 12 m fee I cant see him sitting out too many.
paulinho: seems to be overlooked a lot but hes pretty cheap at
7m, was bought for 17m by TOT so I can see plenty of games
helping out bale, he can score as well, getting about a goal
every 4 games in his career (including for brazil).
       fwd:
Cornelius: hes as cheap as you can get, has been bought to
compete in the premiership and he can score, almost every other
game last season for Copenhagen, that will obviously drop but it
       shows some quality!
dzenko: 14 mins per point as opposed to 16 per point for
aguerro, I still don't understand how dzenko isn't used
more....and maybe he will this season with aguerro being sold
possibly, for 7.5m he could be an extreme bargin.
helenius: 2 goals in 2 pre season friendlies, hes 6'5 which can
be unplayable no matter who you are sometimes. could be a
supersub which reduces his attractivity but if you have 5.5 and
need someone who can get some risky points he could be a good
       shout.
