       Xavier's Flu

       The year is 2015 and the United States is in a panic. A new
       virus has swept the continent on a pandemic level. Mk-24,
       otherwise known as "Xavier's Flu," is characterized by 3 days of
       high fever, nausea, unquenchable thirst, and a marked blue tinge
       to the lips and tips of the fingers. The stress placed on the
       body during this period cause at least one third of its victims
       to die by the end of the three day period. Others become
       infected but never experience symptoms beyond a marginally
       higher body temperature that persists interminably. This small
       section of the population become carriers of the disease though
       no one is sure yet how the virus is spread. While the nation
       reeled in the wake of the first month's death toll hospitals
       began getting an influx of unusual patients. One third of the
       contractors of the disease reported blinding migraines after the
       third day preceding what can only be described as supernatural
       activity. For the those compatible, the Mk-24 unlocks a hitherto
       untapped portion of d.n.a and unleashes latent "mutant"
       capabilities present in the genome.
       Society as a whole has tried to maintain normalcy however the
       criminal potential of those 'unlocked' has government officials
       and civilians alike worried over the safety of the nation as
       well as the ever increasing numbers of the dead.
