I think that it should be longer than 60 days. Perhaps 90 days.
That would allow the new member a longer time to complete the
ships requirements. I also think that the new member should be
required to complete the pirate history test - whether that is a
part of a ships criteria or not. Below are the adjustments i
       would make:
DREAD application must be completed at an onboarding event, if
the recruit is invited back a member of the press gang will
contact them and invite them to the next meeting and will then
be required to complete the remainder of the onboarding packet,
which includes: A code of ethics form, a signed media permission
form, and a Liabilty release and waiver form.
New Members have 2 options for the first 30 days of onboarding
Option 1 Pay no dues, not allowed to handle swords
Option 2 Pay 5$ dues and be allowed to participate in Sword
       Practice
The dues would be paid on their first meeting after the
       onboarding event.
All members are required to participate in at least 1 committee
New Members need to pick a committee to join by the end of day
       30
A New Member must choose and apply to a ship by the end of day
       60
Must meet min requirements as set forth by captain of that ship
       by day 90
Captains have the option to deny an applicant entry to their
       ship.
The pirate history test will be required to be completed by day
       90.
After day 91, a meeting of captains and committee chairs will be
called to approve a New Member for transitioning to Crew Member
       Status
Only the Committee chair for the new members chosen committee is
required to attend this meeting. This meeting will most likely
take place the same day as a regular fleet meeting.
During the 90 days, new members will be permitted to participate
in the fleets events, provided they have adequete costuming.
That being said, i don't think they should be permitted to
participate in the performance aspect of the events until they
have completed the 90 day onboarding process. They would be
restricted to booth, grunt, or wanderer for the duration of the
events within their 90 probationary period. This allows adequete
time for training in the fleet's choreography or combat
structures, as well as for them to learn how the performances
are handled at events. However, that may be up to the
       choreography and combat instructors.
