The Adventures of Lerissa Lemureslayer
The early days of her life were full of betrayal and abuse. A
lost young Tiefling with now where to go she headed to a place
only known in stories of her people. Her people that became
victims to Valindra and her gang of ridiculous thugs. The
memories send a shiver through the young one. She was out
playing in the glorious fields when it happened. She could hear
the screams and then the sight of smoke caused her to run as
fast as her feet could carry her. She was too late, everyone and
everything she loved was lost to the flames. She had nothing
left in the village so she decided to leave and make her way to
Neverwinter. The journey was going to be long and a test of
wills. She had very little training to defend herself. She
grabbed all she had which was a set of rusty old daggers and
leather armor full of holes and she set off and didn’t look
back.
It was about a week into her travels where she had met her first
companion a sickly little illusionist. He begged for her help
and she felt a pull on her cold heart. She needed him as much as
he needed her. She was determined to make him better and their
friendship grew and they would talk for hours while learning how
to defend themselves and each other. As time passed they got
closer to the gates of a place that was known from stories told.
A safe place for a young Tiefling to learn and grow as a
warrior. Weeks passed as they finally made their way to the
gates of Neverwinter. They were greeted by Sgt. Knox with the
promise of hope. He gave the young one clean clothes and a place
to rest, and gave them a place to train with a warrior. As time
passed she was given small tasks to take care of in-trade for
new daggers and armor. She would travel to nearby lands to help
where it was needed. Every travel her trusted companion would
follow. As time went on the missions grew harder and she grew
stronger. She made friends with a fire sprite, a wear rat that
stunk like sewer water, an orc wolf, and a fey. They would
follow her and help her in her travels. She vowed to keep them
safe and they promised to watch her back.
One day while sitting in Protectors Enclave she was approached
by a man carrying a long sword. “Lerissa?” he asked. She gave
her wicked grin “who wants to know?” He stood there stunned as
nobody had ever spoke to him that way. He knew he needed to have
her in his group of warriors. “My name is Omni and I have been
watching you. I would like for you to come join me and my army.”
He said with a harsh voice. “If I join you and your band of
misfits, what’s in it for me?” She retorted just as harshly. “We
can help you gain better daggers girl” He challenged. “My
daggers do their job!” she challenged back. She was having fun
with him, he was getting angry and it showed in the vain popping
from his head. “If I agree will you calm down before that vain
in you big head explodes?” She laughed. “You are going to test
my patience girl” he growled. Lerissa laughed even harder. Omni
knew then he was in for a challenge with her. “alright girl, are
you coming or not? We have a young dragon in the graveyard to
deal with before it wakes the dead!” With that he stood and
stalked off in a huff. “Hey wait up, you arrogant fool, that
dragon will have your head for lunch!” She called out as she
chased him. They made their way to the main gate where his
misfits were waiting. One carrying a sword and shield, one had
an orb spinning next to his head, another had a bright glow
around her, and the other carried a set of daggers that appeared
to have a blue flame dancing all around them. “This is my guild
of misfits” he laughed out. “There are more of us they are
already in the graveyard waiting on us.” And with that they were
off. They reached the graveyard in no time at all. They were met
by the rest of the guild. One of the members called out, ‘Omni,
it’s Charthraxis causing the damage here again!” The group made
their way to where the dragon sat. “stay close to her” Omni
pointed to the one glowing bright like the sun now. Lerissa
couldn’t believe what she was seeing, the elf was getting
brighter the more they fought. BAM Lerissa was hit with a whip
of Charthraxis’s tale. She was seeing red from the blood pouring
from her head, she was on the verge of passing out when she
swore she watched as the Elf bowed at her while her eyes closed.
“this is it” Lerissa thought “I’m dead” and then she felt it, a
glow wrapping around her body, everything tingled and her eyes
popped open and she was back on her feet. After a long fight it
was done the Dragon was gone and they could head home. The guild
of misfits made many travels together, Lerissa thought she had
found a place she could call home and people she could once
again call family. Lerissa thought everything was fine until one
day she had asked one of the brothers for help making her armor
enchantment stronger, he said he needed to take it back to the
wizard for help. Lerissa trusted him so she handed it over, he
never returned. “Omni, where is speedz?” she asked “In the
training center” he answered. With that, Lerissa was off and
across the courtyard as she was opening the door to the training
center she couldn’t believe what she was watching. Speedz was
handing his brother the forge of soul that belonged to her
armor. “Don’t tell anyone where you got this from, I took it
from that trusting Tiefling.” He was telling his brother. As a
Rouge Lerissa was quiet on her feet and was able to make it back
through the door she had just entered before they knew she was
there. “OMNI!” she called out and true to form he appeared. She
explained what she had watched happen in the training center.
Omni couldn’t believe what he was hearing. He called a meeting
with the guild, he wanted answers from Speedz. The meeting
turned into a war, sides were taken, people walked away, Lerissa
felt betrayed. The guild eventually fell apart, Omni and Lerissa
would talk from time to time. She was ok being on her own again,
she was able to gain trust from a unicorn.
One day while out for Sgt. Knox Lerissa ran into Malaggar.
“Lerissa, where have you been?” he demanded. “Around, what do
you care?” she said. He motioned for her to sit “please come sit
and listen” he quietly said “look I found this guild while
fighting spiders, they are really nice” He stopped remembering
Lerissa trusted no one now. “What the misfits did was wrong, not
every one of them is at fault though.” Trying to gauge Lerissa
“I’m sorry for what happened but you have to stop walking around
alone.” “You think I’m alone?” she snorted but she knew she
was “I have my companions” she rolled her eyes. “Look just come
meet them, if you still feel you can’t trust anyone then just
leave” he said in haste “FINE” she yelled at him. Lerissa and
Malaggar made their way to the Dragonsbane home. Walking through
the gate Lerissa started to panic. She was watching everyone
around her. The man at the front looked stressed and tired.
“That’s the steward, go talk to him.” Malaggar motioned for
Lerissa to go.

A New Beginning
Lerissa approached the Steward with caution, “I am Lerissa and I
was brought here to speak with Solace.” With the pounding of her
heart so loud she didn’t hear Solace come up behind her. She did
notice the Steward adjust to stand a little straighter, a little
more attention at something behind her. With that she whipped
around while removing both daggers with a swift fluid movement.
The moment she saw her the daggers hit the ground. “I’m ummm,
uhhhh” stuttering Lerissa had forgotten how to speak. With a
soft voice “I know who you are Lerissa.” Solace spoke. “I can
offer you a safe place, we are more than friends here. We are a
family in and out of these walls.” She raised her arms and waved
her hands around her to show the vast area of the world. “We
look out for one another, and if you can open your heart and
mind to it you are welcome to stay.” Solace started to walk away
when Lerissa found her voice. “I have been lied to before and I
have a hard time trusting new people. But I am willing to carry
an open mind and not judge anyone here if you give me a chance.”
The hurt in Lerissa was still very much there. “I would like to
tell you more about who I am and what life has thrown at me.”
She looked down as she always does when unsure of herself. “I
would like that but I need one thing from you, I need you to
believe in yourself.” Solace said in a soft voice.
The two sat at the fountain as Lerissa told Solace about what
had happened with the Misfits, and worked her way further into
her past where she told Solace about Valindra and what had
happened to her home. “You see it was a long time ago but the
nightmares are there every single time I close my eyes. The
screams are so real that I jump and wake startled.” A single
tear fell as she ended the story of her past. The two were so
deep into the conversation that Lerissa didn’t hear the others
gathering around. As she lifted her head she jumped at the sight
of everyone around them. It was a booming voice that made her
jump “We the guild of Dragonsbane are NOTHING like the misfits
you had to deal with.” Atlas spoke up. “We welcome new members,
and we are happy you have made your way home.” Silence had
fallen as Lerissa took in the sight of every face
“RISE OF THE HALFLINGS!” a voice yelled out somewhere in the
group and with that the group started laughing and the tension
broke. “please excuse our Halfling there, he forgets I can
squash him!” said with a laugh. From that moment Lerissa knew
she was home and this was the family she had been looking for.

Part three
Some time has passed since Lerissa’s arrival at the home of
Dragonsbane. It’s rather a peaceful place in the walls of the
Stronghold, outside it’s a whole other story. Despite the chance
of being attacked by anything out there Lerissa enjoys riding
one of her mounts around the area.
After a long day of riding and fighting off hordes of spiders
and devils she returns to the Stronghold. Upon entering the
gate, she could hear a lot of voices, someone was getting
louder. A voice she didn’t recognize boomed over the rest “Krok
strong, Krok kill dragon!” Stepping with care not to be noticed
she moved in to hear more of what was being said. “We will start
with the red one, then move to the next until they are gone.”
Solace gave direction to the group. “We need to get everyone
together here before the arrival of the 4 dragons.” And with
that everyone started to gather their gear. “KROK STRONG, KROK
KILL DRAGONS!” he yelled out. “Krok, we will take care of them
together” a gentle voice sang out. The voice belonged to Kaira
another rouge that like Lerissa lost her family and found
Dragonsbane.
Lerissa continued to move like a whisper in the breeze across
the Stronghold. A voice made her jump and come to a halt as it
yelled out. “Has anyone seen Lerissa? She was out there riding,
if the dragons attack she can’t defend herself against them
alone!” Atlas owns the voice. Another voice she recognized as
Ganonling “I wouldn’t worry too much about that one” as he
winked at Lerissa, of course he would notice another rouge
moving around. With that Lerissa was moving again, she enjoyed
everyone and their company, however right now she wanted nothing
more than getting her armor off and scrubbing the blood of the
spiders off before she was needed for the Dragon fight coming.
Ganonling must have noticed the blood, and thus keeping her
whereabouts quiet. She smiled to herself as she entered a room,
“I love it here.” With that she removed her armor. “Uh hum,
sorry I’ll come back” Atlas. Of course he would just walk in. “I
didn’t just walk in you left the door open”. How did he know
what she was thinking? He does that all too often. “Well you’re
here now, don’t act like you have never seen a naked body before
and at least turn around while I dress and tell me why you are
here.” As if she didn’t know, damn dragons always trying to
attack. “Ok well for one you should close the door, so stop
whipping your tail around like you are going to plunge it
through my skull. Two the dragons are coming back again and
Solace is asking for all available to come to the fountain.” As
he walked out “and I noticed you sneaking past, that silver in
your armor shines bright in the sunlight.” Of course, but if he
would look closer he would see it’s not silver at all. As she
picked up her armor she rubbed the pearl white spot between her
thumb and fingers. It’s cold as ice, harder than a diamond, and
fell from Glycamerax. Every time she slays him a few will hit
the ground and she picks them up. The blue scales come from
Kradazuur, as she rubbed the blue scale a tingle ran up her arm,
even though it’s no longer attached to the dragon it still has
an electric charge. This has proven to be an asset to Lerissa
over time. She had them placed over her shoulders, the most
common place for a person to grab. The shock is enough to make a
person remove their hands. The blue causes the white to take on
the appearance of silver. She slides the chest piece back on and
laces it closed, slides her feet into her boots, and as she
walks to the door picks up her gloves. With a sigh she walks
towards the fountain, but stops atop the spiral stir case. The
view from where she stopped to look upon her family below was
breath taking. She has formed a bond with everyone here and
would without a doubt lay her life at the line for anyone of
them. Pulling on her gloves she walks down the stairs and
crosses the courtyard to the fountain. Solace was standing on
the edge of the fountain so she stood above everyone to call
order to the chaos around her. “This is nothing new to us, we
have taken down many dragons. As always we will start at the
top, watch out for the flame and take out her empowerments that
follow her.” These dragons never stick around long and even
taking out one is a victory. “I want everyone to stick together
for the ride out, I will stay and sound the bell when they are
coming and I will head out then.” Many have their trusty mounts
already others calling theirs in. Lerissa whips her tale and
with that a horse that is black as the darkest shadows appears
at her side. Shadow walker bows to Lerissa so the rouge can rub
his head. “When I dismount run back to the stables till I call
you again” she commanded of her horse.
“Let’s go!” shouted Atlas, and with that the group was off. When
they arrived to the location it was quiet, too quiet. This
caused some worry deep down in Lerissa. Although she knew they
could handle this dragon she worried about those she loved and
called family. Deep in thought a bell rang out and startled
Lerissa causing her to fall from Shadow Walker, “I’m fine, go
before you become a snack for the dragons!” she laughed. A hand
appeared in front of her, only one person would offer a small
hand like that, Ganonling. “Don’t you know even on my ass I’m
still taller than you Halfling?” She giggled and took his hand.
Even though he was small he had power that Lerissa couldn’t
understand. “I maybe small but I can kick your butt!” and with
the they both laughed. “This is no time for laughing” Atlas
pointed up as a red dragon approached. “Watch the flames” Solace
called out as the dragon hit the ground. As soon as it was on
the ground everyone ran in, heals flew out to the group, arrows
rained down from the sky, clouds of smoke appeared, the sound of
blades long and short rang out and the dragon grew weak.
Everyone worked together and with a final push the dragon fell,
lifeless at everyone’s feet. “The others have flown off” Solace
announced. Walking in closer Lerissa bends and picks up a red
scale, “hot as the sun”. “No it’s hotter than that” a voice she
has never heard before came from behind a wall.
“Who’s there?” she called. The same voice answered “My name is
Lucifer”. Nobody noticed what was going on as they were all
standing close to the fallen dragon talking. “Why are you here?”
she asked while pulling a blade from its spot at her side. “I
mean no harm but right now I would welcome that dagger” his
voice grew faint. As Lerissa cornered the wall she looked into
the greenest eyes. Looking down his body she noticed 3 things,
he was tall, he was an elf, and he had blue blood running from
his chest. “A tall elf?” she shook her head and whipped her tail
to call her mount. Lucifer grew wide eyed when Shadow Walker
appeared from nowhere. “How, where, what the hell?” and like
that he passed out. “Lerissa?” Kaira called, “where are you?”
“I’m here.” She cornered the wall. “Don’t freak out but I need
help moving a body.”
“What did you do?” Kaira rose an eyebrow
“I didn’t do anything, but I found something, well someone” she
leads Kaira around the wall.
“Oh lookie you found a moon elf, does he have a name?”
“He called himself Lucifer before he passed out”
“Well we better get him back to the stronghold, but do you know
where he came from?”
“No, but it’s something I intend to find out” With that the two
load him up into a wagon and attach it to Shadow Walker. “take
him to the cleric in the stronghold” Lerissa commanded of her
mount.
“I will walk back to the stronghold, it’s not far and I can
protect myself despite some people’s thoughts.”
“I’m not going to have you walking alone even though you can
clearly take care of yourself.” Kaira told Lerissa. “besides the
walk will help me clear my head”
The two walked slow and kicked rocks around as they went down
the path. No talking, no daggers pulled they just walked.
Lerissa thought on her time here, and tried to remember the day
she met Kaira.
“Do you remember when we met?” Lerissa startled Kaira.
“I do, you were running around the area alone and I was with
Solace getting to know the area.”
“That’s right, and I ran into a mob of angry orcs and hoping
someone would hear the commotion and you two appeared.”
“you looked like hell when we finished them off” Kaira pointed
out.
“I felt like hell” Lerissa smiled. “think that elf will be ok?”
“Let us go find out”
