As the world gets darker, Cormyr shines ever brighter.
One of the oldest still standing Kingdoms, despite it's size,
retains the title of Empire from long ago.
The center of the capitol, Suzail, located along the Sea of
Fallen Stars, has a large statue depicting one of the most noble
       men to ever live.
The statue's radiant glory, carved out of mithril, reflects the
man, Suzail's, glory when he lived.
       Regional History
The Earliest history of Cormyr is recounted in the Legend of
       Suzail
  HTML http://dndgurnee.createaforum.com/legends/the-legend-of-suzail/new/#new.<br
/>It is this tale which Cormyr credits as its foundation, and
considers a core teaching among the words of Bahamut and Torm.
17 Generations ago the Cormyrn Line was started, which has ruled
Cormyr since the end of the Arabel Line, lasting for 23
Generations. During each reign, every King or Queen has ruled
with unwavering moral conviction, as it is not in their nature
to second-guess themselves. Notably during the Reign of Arabel
the XIV Cormyr reached its greatest size stretching to Baldur's
Gate in the West and Snakewood in the South. In the regions in
between some influence can still be seen. However long wars and
distant lands took their tole on Cormyr. In contrast to the
Arabel rulers, the Cormyrn rulers have been more focused on
creating a smaller nation of perfection.
Since the start of the Cormyrn line both the wealth of Cormyr
and the Dragon Coast have increased due to expansions of both
shipping fleets. Cormyrn I is also responsible for reshaping the
       Purple Dragon Knights
  HTML http://dndgurnee.createaforum.com/organizations/purple-dragon-knights-of-cormyr/<br
/>into what they are today - an elite army, more skilled than an
       y
in the world. With such military might, wars have invariably
broken out along the Cormyrn borders, but the people do not
       consider themselves warmongers.
The most recent mobilization of the Purple Dragons was to oust
       Netherese reinforcements in now Denerim.
       Life and Society
The average wage of workers in Cormyr is far above average, with
most people having some form of disposable income or
holiday-time. A sizable amount of the population is directly
employed by the Crown, leaving taxes to be directly withdrawn
       from salaries.
Politically, people have little say, believing fully that Honor
and Nobility are key to making a King - and that with such
       qualities, everyone will surely follow.
Violent crime is incredibly low, allegedly due to the respect
developed between other "honorable" people of Cormyr. This can,
however, often lead to strong mistrust of foreigners, not
following the same honor code (or having none at all). As such,
disputes between foreigners are often handled by the police and
suspicious foreigners are turned away at the border or
       checkpoints throughout the land.
Holidays include: the summertime festival of Suzail, the King's
Birthday, three days of somber reflection of the Purple Dragon
Knights and their sacrifices, and holidays usually observed by
       Torm and Bahamut.
       Points of Interest
       Suzail
  HTML http://dndgurnee.createaforum.com/holy-cormyrn-empire/suzail-(city)/new/#new<br
       />- the magnificent capital city
       Tilverton Scar
  HTML http://dndgurnee.createaforum.com/holy-cormyrn-empire/under-construction-location-tilverton-scar/
Tilverton Pass - Military checkpoint in the Storm Horns Mountain
Range, limiting access to Cormyr from the north. This particular
checkpoint was only set-up since the fall of Tilverton Scar, but
is guarded by Purple Dragon Knights.
Arabel - the city of royalty. This city contains the summer home
of the ruling family and is the origin of the Arabel Line. To
the northwest are fertile fields, where much of Cormyr's food is
produced. The city has 2 Cathedrals (Bahamut and Torm). Weather
is enjoyable all year round and is situated on the banks of Sky
       Lake.
Sky Lake - clear water, and a refreshing breeze. Most citizens
that can afford it will make a trip once a year to the lake. An
especially popular place during Suzail's festival.
King's Forest - Several hundred gardeners are employed by the
Crown to continuously groom the paths and landscape, so each
season appears special. Entrance is free for all citizens of
Cormyr, but also attracts wealthy tourists from Denerim and the
       Dragon Coast.
The Forge - Located west of Suzail, this is where newly
recruited Purple Dragon Knights train. It is one of the main
       strategic points for Cormyr's defense.
Marsember - A double of Suzail, where commerce and trade run
daily lives. Marsember is often the first place foreigners will
arrive, before being allowed to take the road to Suzail.
Occasionally the large naval blockade in Marsember will have to
deal with pirates (but pirates are cowardly - but who can blame
them?). Marsember is said to have the largest Customs House
outside of the Dragon Coast and Waterdeep.
Wheloon - Home to Cormyr's Royal Magic Academy and Alchemical
Workshop, the brightest minds of Cormyr will be found here along
       with several libraries.
Thunder Pass - A similar military checkpoint to that of
Tilverton Pass, except considerably older, due to a past of
       hostile neighbors to the east.
The Vast Swamp Defensive Blockade - sometime in between the
transition between the Arabel and Cormyrn lines, and tumultuous
conditions in Denerim (then Sembia) Lizardfolk had taken up
refuge in the Vast Swamp. They remain relatively ignored, as
they ignore most things, however Cormyr remains skeptical about
their intentions. Thus a defensive position was erected along
       the border.
       Rumors
-There has been more military presence along the eastern border
       with the Vast Swamp recently
-A Scholar in Wheloon has claimed to found a shard of Suzail's
       shield
-Guest to the King's Forest have been strangely disappearing
-The King's Son did not attend his father's public Birthday
       celebration, apparently ill
