Life and Society
Most of the citizens live simple lives, although such conditions
would likely be considered destitute and backwards for people
from more populated and advanced nations. However, the people do
not go wanting - the nature surrounding them is bountiful and
rich. As such the God Silvanus is typically worshiped. Such
worship is heavily ingrained into culture and practice, where
the people attempt minimize their impact on the natural
environment.
Society is not necissarily closed to outsiders, but no special
treatment is given to those who do not follow their numerous
unspoken social norms. Punishment is most typically exile,
turning to violence only as a last resort. Although the
communities are not well connected, nor often in contact, the
Druids of Druid's Pass serve as the arteries for the nation.
They are able to feel nature around them, can reach out with a
wide network of animals, delivering messages or dispatching
troublemakers.
However, not every community is so absolutely satisfied with
their way of life. If this is the case, sometimes Druids will be
assigned to work closely with a community and teach them
techniques to increase their living standards, while having low
impact on their surroundings. This includes magical and mundane
means.
Major Geographical Features
A large majority of the landmass is covered in forests, some
deciduous, others coniferous. It is not uncommon to find
jungle-like territory on the western-edge and rocky coastland on
the eastern border.
Regional History
It is said that the people of Gulthandor have origin in the
Feywild, that people attuned to nature were given a haven by
Silvanus to embrace his garden. As early as people remember,
Gulthandor has been known for their Druidic Circle, sometimes
thought to be one of the first circles on the natural plane of
existance. The Circle of the White Bear is renowned for their
abilitiy to consistently produce powerful Druids, however few
venture beyond the borders of Silvanus's Garden. The head of the
Circle, The White Bear, who's title is passed down to the most
worthy druid upon the previous White Bear's death, serves
effectively as leader for the nation.
The political ability of the White Bear typically dictates their
policy and intervention - several hundred years ago, Gulthandor
underwent a brief ideological movement, where they believed in
expanding borders to further the Garden of Silvanus. This
expansion included communitites to the south and east, in
current Ilha Mercador. However following spreading disease and
turbulent weather, the furthe communities became split.
Gulthandor would occasionally reattempt its expansion, but would
never have the same reach as before.
