Ollyfein speaks to the Axebeaks while staying just out of reach.
Offering some (chunks of roasted orc?) treats to gain their
favor he persuades them to trust him as a bird brother. He says
"you will be treated better than by those pig-monkeys. Join my
flock and I shall lead you true, bird brothers! Back at my roost
I entertain many avians with bountiful morsels. Flock with me to
attain the promised roost where we bird take dominion. You bird
do not fly in the sky...flock with me and your dreams will
soar."

Daniel removes his hat and aids in burying the victims of the
attack, using the shovel he acquired at the destroyed farmstead.
As he finishes putting dirt over the hunters, he says, "I'm
sorry, fellers, that I couldn't save you. I was just so scared!
I seen a great many things in my life, but nothin so terrifyin
as them fire giants and their blasted little imps. Mama always
said never turn your back on a friend, and I guess I done
screwed that up. But I promise to y'all I won't do it ever
again."
"Fellers," Daniel says, dusting off his pants and returning to
the group, "I don't mean to sound pushy, but we ought to get a
move on right quick before them fire giants go burnin any more
innocent folk. I can track them giants easier than an ant tracks
molasses, but I'm not sure what good it'll do. I reckon we can't
do nothin but make em mad with our attacks, but maybe if we got
them giant slayin weapons first we might stand a chance. At the
very least we could warn them other villages to ready themselves
for attack, for whatever that's worth."

Popo smokes a blunt in a solem, yet subdued disposition and
offers Victoria a hit, "Dinner would be real chill, bunny. Maybe
you and I can decompress on these heavy crunchers, I'm sorry I
could only get to you in time." He smokes back a sob, "War...
what is it good for, dudette?"
Hearing the plans his party has posited, "This sounds like the
way the wind is blowing, we'd stand a chance with a specialized
weapon, but those fire bums seemed like they had no interest in
anything but what they snagged from the dirt... if we could use
their preoccupation as leverage..."

Proud to have saved the feeble town Olly holds his swiveling
head high. "My sprite companion is still following the giants,
that way we have an idea of their movements while we trek to
Yartar en route to Everlund." Though out of telepathic reach the
sprite follows the giants until it learns the destination of the
metal object or reaches a point of no return thence twill
return, asking Lady Shendrel what direction we head off in if
need be.

Surrounded by the party Clunk bandages himself up "Let us leave
the fire giants be for now, We need info, we need weapons.
Travel to Silverymoon by way of Everlund" Clunk sighs as he
finishes tieing off his last bandage. "After we rest a short
bit. I'm sure some of you need to lick your wounds."

The party helped clean up the aftermath in Triboar, and decided
to spend a few days there to rest up. Victoria kindly cooked
Popo dinner one night, then Popo cooked for the party the next.
On the final night the party stayed in the Everwyvern House
(without cost) and ate a delicious meal at the Pleasing Platter
(the finest they had had in a long time). Given that Victoria
worked at the Apothecary, which had now burned down, she left
town with the party. Apparently Victoria was proficient in
medicinal herbs, and wanted to see more of the world, perhaps
eventually making it to Baytown to find her long-gone brother.
The snow was beginning to fall more regularly as the party
ventured westward towards Songhall (Yartar). The fortified town
occupies both sides of the river with bustling narrow streets
and a large port. The Waterbaron Lady Ruthiol rules over the
city from The Citadel, a keep situated on the western bank of
the city. Looking for some rumors, the party found themselves in
the Bronze Kettle, a tavern in the middle of town. Warm air
poured forth from the doorway, making it a comforting stop after
a night on the cold road. The bar tender informed the party of a
New Year's festival happening in two days time, which people
were already celebrating in his tavern. He offered the party
free drinks and to stay for Wintersmeet.
Wanting some more shady information, the party moved to The
Waterfront Inn, a dive near the docks. After paying the
barkeeper of the cold run-down tavern 1gp for some information,
she divulged that one of the patrons was a Harper. However when
confronted, the human man with burns on half his face pulled a
dagger, accusing the party of blowing his cover. After some
calming from Popo and bouncing from Clunk, the man left the
establishment.
Inquiring where to find other information, the Innkeep as well
as some guards, bearing the crest of the Lord's Alliance
mentioned the local Thieves' Guild, the Hands of Songhall. Not
wishing to get involved just yet, the party decided to go to the
docks.
A friendly shiphand informed the party that the Prince's River
going west to Calling Horns was frozen, but that the river
running North-South out of Songhall remained traversable. Given
previous years he also expects the river connecting Layiguer and
Shimmerglade to still be running.
Looking for some information about ships that may have come from
Mornbryn's Shield, the party headed to the Mercantile Guild
House. Sat on the finely upholstered chairs on the marble floor,
swept of all snow and dirt and slush, a finely dressed man
greeted the party. After inquiring about ships from Mornbryn's
Shield, the man inquired about the authority of the party.
Mentioning the Queen Oswynn, the man casually dismissed her
authority "such a long way from Lyrabar." He later insinuated
that Mr. Salvatore, the head of the guild's authority could be
bought for 50 gp. The party instead refused and decided to leave
the mysteries of Songhall to another time.
Following a long cold day of travel, the party noticed a
campfire on the side of the road. Saarvir a green dragonborn of
the Emerald Enclave was sat next to his campfire, offering to
share with the party. He told stories of his adventure stealing
gold from a white dragon's hoard atop the tallest peak in the
Spine of the World Mountains. After some questioning from Popo,
he mentioned how the giants have always been around in these
regions. Though with the recent activity, they now come and find
you, instead of the other way around. Even a well travelled road
had become more dangerous, and Saarvir planned to help
travellers along the Prince's Road. Even to the members of the
Emerald Enclave he had had contact with, they knew not why the
giants were acting as they are.
In the morning Saarvir gave Clunk a nicely carved wooden
statuette of him cleaving a wild Crag Cat with his greataxe. He
smiled, fed the party goodberries at noon, and by dusk the party
reached Calling Horns. Calling Horns being a small frontier
town, with an inn and some homsteads. Locals say that the snow
covered town, from which the tops of the Earthspur Mountains are
now visible, has grown slightly under the protection of the
wealthy noble who settled here, Tamalin Zoar.
At the entrance of the town stands a war memorial of sorts - a
cairn of weathered and snow-covered orc skulls stand at the
crossroads between the Evermoor Way (Prince's Road) and Jundar's
Pass. The village proper is made up of rows of small log
cottages with bark-shingled rooftops and the Calling Horn's Inn
with adjoining stables sits atop a ridge that overlooks the
intersection, surrounded by tall, old trees.

Approaching the town Clunk scans the buildings in a quick one
over and turns to their traveling companion "Saavir if giants
normally roamed the area, do you know where any frost giant
clans would call home?"

"Well I wouldn't really say normally roam the area - more like
you could find them if you looked hard enough. Did the Frost
Giants take something of yours? All I remember you mentioning so
far has been some Fire and Hill giants. Though as you might
expect, the Frost Giants generally keep to the colder climes -
further north approaching the glaciers and mountains. But if
you're planning to go that way after your time in Shimmerglade
and Layiguer, I'd keep an eye out for the Wildfolk."

"Very Well, If you happen to hear about any fire giants in the
area again. Find a Harper or a lords alliance member and tell
them to get the Information to the Fallen star company." Clunk
departs with the ranger and makes his way to the inn(its dusk
right?) gets a room for the members of the FSC.
