Theodora catches the ring in her gloved hand, holds it up and
rotates it between her fingers, narrowing her eyes as if giving
it a thorough once over. She then returns it to her palm, and
flashes several arcane signs with her left hand, while mumbling
under her breath. As she completes her casting, her brow furrows
further. "This is quite odd, most unlike anything I've ever seen
before. There is a potent reservoir of magical energy contained
in this object, but it is... undirected. Perhaps a magical item
halfway through crafting? No, but then we would likely have
found similar blanks elsewhere. It is... it is like a blank
slate, power waiting for a direction, a purpose." She looks
around at all of you briefly, and then slides the ring off of
her gloved hand and into her bare palm. Nothing happens. She
sighs, and then says, "as I suspected, nothing. This ring does
not do anything in its current state, but it has the potential
to be quite powerful. I am not sure how, if at all, this
potential may be directed, however." She pops it up and down in
her palm and stares at it a moment more, before handing it back
       to Asmundr.

Asmundr leans back and away from her as she does this, "Well,
you didn't explode, I suppose it might be safe." He laughs with
a bit of nervous relief. When she is not looking, I write to the
collector describing it as she did. *Does his donger raise at
       this description?*

Geoffrey ever vigilant curiously listens into the conversation,
while looking around. "Sounds almost like a ring of spell
storing to me. The leaders of the Whispers would often wear
several of these, having a spell ready for every occasion," he
says to the party. "If it is indeed one, then we've fallen upon
some good luck - but why simply give it to us? Perhaps a command
word is required, or the ring already stores a mischievous
       spell?"

After a moment, the collector replies: "How befuddling. Have
never encountered such an object. Calls for testing. Mind your
       vectors. - C"

Theodora smiles at Geoffrey's suggestion, and says, "Excellent
hypothesis! I should have known adventurers such as you would
have experience with such things. However, in my own studies,
I've noted that objects with spell storing capabilities have a
common characteristic, almost like a... ah, how should I put
it... A well within the weave of its magics, like a... like a
socket in which a spell may be set. No, I don't think it has
spell storing capabilities, though you may certainly try. I
think we have established that it poses no threat for you to
       hold, at least."

"Let us deal with the ring further once we have returned to a
       safe place" Clunk sighs.
"I am weary taking a girl so far from her home."

"Indeed," Theodora says, looking back towards the massive tree.
"Despite this witch's... generous disposition... I feel it would
be unwise to tarry hear much longer."

"Let us go then you and I when the evening is spread out against
the sky toward Pentdragon Castle. We can decide at a later date
what our plans for this lil one are."

"I'm not so sure we can allow this fiendish woman remain here.
If adventurers were out to rid her before, then it was likely
contracted by someone in Grand Halen for a reason." Asmundr
thinks, "I think we should interrogate her in force now, get to
       the truth of her generosity."
