Those gifted in magic have historically held positions of power
in Imaskari society. They have some of the most renowned arcane
universities in the none world. While the overall magical might
of Imaskar has been significantly diminished by the Spellplague,
the archmages and wizards have held on to their positions
through force of tradition, and have even become more valued for
their newfound rarity as powerful magic users. You are not sure
how all of this will change with the ongoing Shou occupation,
however, as the Shou are known to renounce almost all forms of
magic as unnatural and perverse.
While you're not sure exactly how orphans are treated, you do
know that the life of the common folk in High Imaskar is greatly
improved over that of peasants in Grand Halen.

Theodora pulls a well worn, seemingly insulated glove over her
right hand, and holds it out to Asmundr. "That ring," she says,
"I could identify its properties for you if you like."

Asmundr looks concerned, "Very well, I am protecting us from any
charms or incantations with the power of song right now. This
would be the safest time, though we in this region tend not to
trust in arcanists without very clear motives and under
supervision of colleges. I would have this ring destroyed sooner
than interact with whatever bane this wbitch may have bestowed
on it." He looks to Edwina in concern, "Though if you are
willing to take the risk, now is your best window... the Company
also has... connections which can conduct extensive tests on
such things."
*I think what Im saying probably rings true of our setting?*

*if that is true of this region, then y'all completely blew that
off in blindly trusting the Collector*
Theodora raises her eyebrows at you and smiles. "There is a
reason I was sent on this mission with you adventurers. I am
well practiced in how to handle mysterious magical items such as
this, and that crown. I also think it be wiser to know what this
ring does before walking away from the crafty hag that seems to
want us to do just that."

*Oh, on that topic: The Collector wasn't really supposed to
actually have any entanglement per se with us, I wanted him to
mostly be a resource with which to barder in minor magical
items. I think it ended up basically like that, but I think
officially I would like to retcon my use of the "contract" as he
described it, that was ad-lib'd in haste to get to the actual
adventure, tried to cleverly hasten plot forward while using
that sending scroll I gave us, and it kinda felt stupid. When I
really think about it, you could have just asked him where he
was at with the scroll, so that he didnt need to trust you with
the island's location. That Retcon ok?*

Oh, Asmundr did hand it over, I guess I didn't type that.
*Also gnomes are probably known for certain types of magic and
Hags for others right haha*

*Oh, I wasnt talking about Theodora, I was talking about not
trusting the magic items and lonely magic users in the wild. If
thats what you thought. Clerics and Paladins would probably the
most trusted magic users anywhere right?
Paladins, Clerics, Wizards, Elemenatalist Monk, Bards, Rangers,
EK, Druid, Sorcerer, Arcane Trickster, Warlock in that order
probably*

As I say, "Very well" I fish it out of wherever it is *oh wait
it's right here... in my pocket* with my mage hand.
