The Collector Segue

After a successful, but bittersweet quest in the Western Isles
HTML http://Western Isles, the Shooting Star Division returned to
meeting with Asmundr in the outter docks at Halshan Myrat
HTML http://Halshan Myrat. Popo, seeing the bodacious waves ripping
onto the shore here took his leave and walked off down the
coast. Asmundr expained that Edward and Geoffrey had uncovered
some important leads into the assassination attempt on Padre
Redonde
HTML http://Padre Redonde, and assured them that the members of the
Ilha Temple of Corellon
HTML http://Ilha Temple of Corellon are safe and in good health.
Asmundr lead the party up a familiar path in the Karst to Mr.
Rooshi's Inn, claiming that Edward was in talks with an
important contact. Arriving at the Inn, they are greeted by Mr.
Rooshi. Mr. Rooshi seems particularly excited at how much
business has picked up since the three members of the Fallen
Star Company
HTML http://Fallen Star Company set up shop here. In efforts to
recruit members for the understaffed Hang 'em High, Viri, Clunk
the party spent some quality time meeting the cast of characters
which have surrounded Goeffrey, Edward, and Asmundr in the
Aglaronné Inn
HTML http://Aglaronné Inn. After some introduction, fraternizing, and
convincing, the Shooting Star Division managed to convince Jyl

Though there were some minor conflicts between Erskan Bowe's
crew

Monsieur
HTML http://Le Monsieur created an air of obedience that even Captain
Mario's

The meeting between Asmundr, Edward Lucia
HTML http://Edward Lucia, Sir Agoshtinho III
HTML http://Sir Agoshtinho III, and Sygul the Silent
HTML http://Sygul the Silent yielded some interesting information
about Sygul's previous vessel "The Waterhen". Sygul: "This
wasn't just a supply run. It was a special shipment, the captain
couldn't say, but I knew it was special. We were moving...
something that needed to be protected and hid in Ilha Mercador.
We had a crew of 24, after a couple days of sailing... it was
18, their bodies were withered and gaunt. Paranoia set in, we
were turning on eachother. Some of the men tried to mutiny, I
stayed by the captain's side. As we fought for our lives, the
ship hit a coral sinkhole, she split and the aft section sank.
North by Northwest of here. It was just me, the doctor, and the
cook left, the captain was killed in combat. The mutineers took
the dinghy. We survived on that island, taking shelter in the
ancient ruins for months, until it was just me there. Alone. I
was found after 4 months, and I've never gone back. I don't know
what was in the hold of that ship, and it's secret rests with
the captain." Asmundr tells the party that this merits some
exploration, but that Queen Chryserys is expecting the Fallen
Star Company's immediate assistance. Luckily, the crashsite is
nearly right on the way to Grand Halen.
After traveling with Sir Agostinho III's vessel "The Fairway",
the fleet arrived back where Sygul remembered grounding The
Waterhen nearly 50 years ago. Just when Sygul started to think
you may have taken a wrong heading, the island appeared as if
out of nowhere. Amid the smaller atolls and islands, you spot
it: The Waterhen, run aground. After exploring the wreckage, you
find nothing of consequence, you find boxes and chests devoid of
anything, whether it was by the mutineers or some other party,
the Waterhen has been looted bare. Battle with some local
enemies: two bulettes and a giant octopus provided some
struggle, and amid the battle Clunk uncovered celestial themed
necklace with a setting for a pendant, which is missing. Battle
with the bulettes was cut short when out of the rocky face of
the beach, a 15 foot tall stone golem lifted out of the ground,
all the combatants retreated in it's intimidating appearance.
Out from the core of the island, a flying metal man approached -
landing on the golem's shoulder.
Stepping off the metal guardian's is a gnome looking man
HTML http://gnome looking man who yells at the adventuring party,
"Who are you?! Why are you here?! How did you get here!? Are you
trying to steal from me?!?!?!?!?"

"Well now that you accused me of such, But I have knowledge on
this ship and seek more information surrounding it. Now
Creature riding a golem I greet you, I am Clunk, Wolf Slayer,
the iron giant, Bane of Bane, eradicator of ArchGriffins. Who
are you, what are you doing here?"

You have never heard of anyone like this. There are very few
gnomes on the continent - let alone the island. This sort of
magic - golems and animated guards - is very alien to you all.
This is about as powerful of a caster as many of you have ever
seen. Except for Olly, and Clunk by virtue of him being very
very old, living through times when magic was more fierce and
forefront.

The gnome says skeptically, "Hmmm, how befuddling! Well, it
seems like you mean me no harm, by the suprised looks one your
faces... besides if you five did want to pick a fight with us, I
theorize... your defeat! I am the great Collector!" He announces
himself with some pride, "What is your business with this wreck,
I promise you, there is nothing left on it, I combed it
thoroughly. Though the ship IS fascinating, isn't it?"

*Back in Ilha Mercador in the room rented by the Fallen Star
Company, once the party makes themselves comfortable, Edward
stands up. He takes a small bow and shakes the hands of Clunk,
Viri, and Olly. "I humbly introduce myself to you all as the
Count of Daggerford, Edward Lucia, friend to the Crown of Grand
Halen and the Fallen Star Company. Ilha Mercador has become a
fascinating place to do business and the work of the Fallen Star
Company cannot be overlooked. Thanks to the discrete work of
your friend Geoffrey, we now have our lead about Dahm's
assailant. I've been told that he will meet us in Grand Halen, "
Edward nods to Sygul.
At the conclusion of the discussion as Sygul leaves the room,
Edward proceeds to hand Clunk a letter. The letter is sealed
with the Royal Symbol of Dambrath, "a letter from your friend
Geoffrey," Edward says.
It reads: "Dear Clunk,
you will hear from me soon, but not in Ilha Mercador. To protect
my interests and those of the Fallen Star Company, I have
decided to cease daily operations in the region. I suspect the
group we are against are known for their deadly efficiency.
Watch your back (though I know you are hardly ever surprised),
and you all can count on Edward like you would me.
Sincerely, your friend Geoffrey.
Burn After Reading"
"He also asked me to give you this," says Edward holding out a
playing card, with a joker on the front and a foreign design on
the back.

"As you say, Mr. Collector, we have no intention to fight or
raid - though as history goes, other powerful foes have woefully
underestimated the combat effectiveness of the Fallen Star
Company in the past, " shouts Edward up to the gnome. "We come
with one of the remaining crew of the wrecked ship," pointing to
the wreckage and then to Sygul, "and search for some truth held
by the ship 50 years prior. Would you help us in this search, by
allowing the Company to examine your findings?"

"You say your title like it means something to the world,
perhaps your less famous then you think. What would be your
name before you were, Mr. Collector? And perhaps you would like
to enlighten us on what you do collect?"

Sygul yells to The Collector, "'Tis true, Lord, this is the
Waterhen, I served as first mate nearly 50 years ago. We mean
you no insult, you were not residing here when I crashed here.
Are you the origin of this island's ephemeral appearance from
the horizon?"
The Collector says back, "I should hope we don't fight, I prefer
a battle of wits, but you're unarmed!" The collector laughs to
himself, "Your story hmmmm.... very interesting! No, I should
hope not too many know me, or this Island. Yes, Sygul (you
notice he said his name without hearing it), I did design it
this way, privacy means quite a lot to me." He turns to Clunk,
"What manner of being are you, which of you commands this
automaton, he's very well designed."
The Collector sits on the Guardian's back for a bit and touches
his goggles, which have a green lens, and an array of magnifying
lenses. He speaks again, "You're the Fallen Star Company you
say... I've heard that name... you're a rather strong bunch. I
can help you; I'd need to rummage through my things." The
Collector thinks to himself for a while, stroking his hair,
furrowing his brow, looking between the golems and you,
adjusting his goggles as if they were to help solve his problem,
"Come about to the Island's volcano, I will let you in to
negotiate... I can trust you that there will be no funny
business?"

"You proudly announce your name, then say its not well known.
Strange, Strange. Is consciousness not a feature you create? No
one controls me, since my Creators had far more then great
talent." Clunk says, listening to this lil man. Clunk follows
him to the Volcano.
