       The First Fall of Bane
By: Duncan Seastove Date: October 28, 2016, 1:34 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Centuries ago, when the combined forces of humans and elves were
pushing the orcs ever northward and out their ancestral
territories across Faerun, the orcs became desperate. Using
blood-binding rituals, a group of orc shamans managed to bind
their god, Bane, to a physical avatar on the material plane.
Bane's immense power threatened to wipe humans and elves from
the continent. However, in a great battle, the Warmaiden, Sigrun
Sverensson, and an elven king, Threnduin, managed to defeat
Bane, and bind him to his ruined body. Threnduin was mortally
wounded during the battle, however, and the Warmaiden and a
small honor guard took his body, along with the Hand of Bane, to
the Great Glacier, where the two would be entombed.
This was the last time the Warmaiden was seen.
Several nations lay claim to being the site of the climactic
battle. However, historical records only mention that it took
place in a great open plain, with mountains in the distance.
Though several attempts have been made to locate the final
resting place of Threnduin and Bane, only Thorax's orcs have
       been successful so far.
