Standing up Clunk throws his axe deep into the ground 13+5+4=22
(strength check) and starts to dig the fire pit. At a certain
depth Clunk nods to Viri to start organizing the sticks and
grass for the fire within the pit.

Viri looks at the sand for a moment, then snaps his fingers and
says, "Clunk, my broad-shouldered friend! I'm sure your
spade-like hands could make short work of a pit by that
description! You don't seem to be the eating type, but the rest
of the crew would sure appreciate your assistance!"

*A quick retcon, Popo is wearing a helmet like this when you
first see him.

Popo takes out a sharpened knife and begins to prepare the boar,
and when doing so wishes if only he had an apple as well - it
may just remind him of home. With Clunk's immense strength he
shovels out the cooking pit in the time it would take at least 3
other men, and the cooking pit is ready immediately. The brush
and wood gathered by Viri lights almost immediately with the
help of a tinderbox.
By the time the boar is lowered into the pit and covered again
it is completely dark aside from what light sources your group
is giving off. The temperature drops slightly, but you can
definitely feel that summer is approaching.
After some waiting, Popo declares the boar finished and Clunk
within seconds has the food uncovered, undeterred by the gentle
heat emerging from the pit. The whole area begins to smell of
deliciously roasted meat, which tastes just as good.
Those of you able to peer into the darkness, notice that a raven
is perched upon a nearby tree, perhaps attracted by the smell of
your meal.

Ollyfein commends the lot on a job well done and eats his fill
of the pork, savoring each juicy bite. Olly very quickly took
noice of the raven, most likely from hearing its wings flutter
or its calls. Olly takes a small portion of pork and walks
slowly towards the raven. Casting Minor Illusion to mimic
friendly Raven calls. Looking up at the raven he strips off a
juicy bit and holds it out in his hand as offering.

However the raven responds, Olly sets down a breadcrumb trail of
pork leading to the camp. Each piece enough to entice the Raven
but accumulatively not enough to satisfy it quite yet.

Viri tears into the meat hungrily, and washes down bites with
sips from a flask. He passes the flask around to anyone else
interested.
"Popo, my friend," Viri says between bites, "truly this boar is
worthy of your boasts. Who would have thought that one could
find such a man by accident, adrift at sea?" Viri passes the
flask towards Popo, swallows, and then says, "Might you have
anything you'd like to pass around?"

Having taken a swig from the flask Olly is feeling very friendly
with the Raven. Invoking his racial ability to speak to animals
(Raven) he asks if said Raven would like some meat, and invites
it to sit by the fire.

At first the raven look at the piece of meat, contemplating
eating it, eventually taking the piece and eating it happily. It
appears to have some trouble chewing the harder cooked meat, but
eventually swallows. It hops down off of the tree branch onto
the mostly-sandy beach and takes a piece of the "breadcrumb
trail".
However, it appears to stop after eating the first piece, as if
wary of the group, especially the big metallic-looking man. When
you encourage it Olly, it squawks back saying "You're going to
attract visitors, good thing you're armed to the teeth, or
beak."

Olly goes to the pig carcass and slices some choice raw flank.
He returns to the Raven. Clearly withholding the meat until it
answers his questions. (Persuasion 1d20 8 + 4 (exp) + 4 (CHA) =
16) "Many greetings fellow bird friend, you have nothing to fear
from me or my flock. Serve me well and you can have this and
much more easy meats in the future. What nearby threats are you
aware of on this island and where can we find the great
bird-beast that roosts here?"
