Viri, being familiar with this type of person from around the
islands, gives Popo a hearty greeting with the traditional
handshake. "Fair waves, my friend! My most sincere apologies for
your ride! Our heads were up in the clouds, my friend, for we
hunt the great Archgriffin!" Viri gives the weathered man a hand
getting aboard, and then ties a line from the aft of the Hang
'em High to (what remains of) the prow of the man's craft (4
(d20) + 4 (Prof) + 5 (Dex) = 13) "We can tow you into port when
we have completed our business here. I have an in with Old Man
Rooshi... He can fix this little deuce coupe right up!"

Participating in the traditional handshake, he says "Woogity

"Ah, yeah man, don't worry about that; it's a rental. Yeah, I'm
down for anything dude. I go where the waves take me, man."

Viri stops tying the line upon hearing that it's a rental, and
says, "Rental or no, we cannot leave it here to damage other
craft. Give me a hand scuttling her, brother." Vir pulls out a
claw hammer from his pack and starts breaking apart the hull of
the small craft.

After completing the towing or scuttling operation (whichever
Popo prefers) Viri returns to his duties manning the lines of
the ship.
Upon reaching shore and hearing the the beast's cry, Viri looks
skyward and attempts to track the beast to its destination
(perception: 9 (d20)) "I reckon that's our mark, lads! A silver
piece to anyone who can spy where it's headed!"

Viri honorable returns the small boat to the sea, from which all
things originate and all things must return.
As you look skyward Viri, you believe that is indeed the beast
as described. It appears to be descending to the top of the
rocky island with its prey in its claws, likely for its evening
meal. Although it's difficult to tell exactly where it's
landing, you might guess its nest is a bit of a ways inland.
Olly you've heard of some of these plants before, particularly
those used in oils to treat burns or sterilize cuts, but there
are also several more lesser known herbs which appear to be
necessary for the creation of the weapon oils. With your quick
glance at the griffin, you'd guess it is at least 20 feet long
with an even larger wing-span. The livestock it was carrying,
you might guess, was a fully grown bull.

Viri inhales deeply as the creature disappears, and then says,
"Now that is a beast worthy of a hunt!"
*How many hours of daylight would Viri say are remaining?*

Viri thinks that there are maybe 1.5 hours until it is properly
dark, but the sun is in the process of setting now.

As the ship glides to a halt on the beach, Viri hops up on the
bowsprit and addresses the crew: "Alright everyone, listen up!
We have arrived at our quarry's home, but it is a bit too late
to knock at his door! There are few things more dangerous than
stumbling around in the dark in search of a beast such as this.
On the morrow, we shall hunt this noble beast until it can
terrorize sailors and cattlemen no longer! But tonight, we
feast!" Viri then turns to the party and says, "But before that,
I think it might be wise to scout the area around this beach, to
get a sense of the island, no?" Viri grins, and then casually
leaps down from the bowsprit to the beach (acrobatics: 16 (d20)
+ 5 (Dex) + 4 (prof)= 25) and then calls up to his companions,
"Well? Who is with me?"
