"No need to apologize - nature is dangerous, but in many ways
Man even more so. Although I have never been to the Underdark, I
hear both man and beast are fearsome - but to go from such an
even to hunting such a noble and powerful beast as the
Archgriffin. You must be desperate for something, no?"
He looks down, "I do indeed hope to find Ungrag and his
following before the Archgriffin does. Under most circumstances,
I would simply leave the Archgriffin to proudly maintain its
position at the top of the food-chain, however we may end up
with no choice."
Gremion glances over to Clunk and says, "I was not separated
from them as such, rather I have an important missive for them.
I shall summon them back to Tan. It was only by following other
clues that I have tracked their movements to this island. There
were rather strong winds in these parts a few days ago."

"The Arch-Griffon is a magical beast and holds no more right to
lord over this natural domain than I, at least in my owl eyes."
Olly says as he claims the pipe and sits next to his new Raven
friend. Taking a long pull Olly then passes the pipe to the
Druid.

Viri laughs heartily, and says, "I have been called many things,
master druid, but desperate is a name rarely heard. As it is the
nature of the griffin to soar proudly through the skies, so is
it the nature of man to push himself to his utmost limits. The
archgriffin seems a deadly foe indeed, but I would rather die
tomorrow on the griffin's aerie than an old man in bed many
years from now. And if the beast is noble, then let it too have
a noble death, rather than let it live to see the day when it is
too old and weak to soar on the storm's winds."
Viri stares intensely up into the darkness, towards the place he
saw the Archgriffin disappear with the bull, and inhales deeply
through his nostrils. He turns again to the druid and says, "If
my words do not move you, then hopefully the safety of your
friends will. If we went scattering into the jungle to retrieve
injured folk, we would be like so many plump rats, ripe for
archgriffin's taking. Better we deal with him first, would you
not say?" Viri extends his hand to the druid, and, staring him
straight in the eyes, says, "My name is Dom Viriato de Asturios,
the Snake of the Seas. But you may call me Viri, Gremion
Ravenwing."

"Are yee brethren any able to defend themselves from such a
beast?" Olly asks Gremion

"It's a pleasure to meet you Dom Viriato, and you words are most
moving. I will not stop you along your quest, and I believe I
may also lend some assistance, although still reluctantly. I
hope you can understand." Gremion shakes Viri's hand - you
notice it's rather hairy.
"Now, in terms of defending myself young one, I can assure you I
am capable - part of surviving in nature is to learn its
secrets, and how it can still push-back against humanity."
Gremion looks to Clunk lastly, "Fair man, you are not of this
natural world are you? Nature too understands the need for
destruction - so much as mighty volcanoes erupt in the South as
the seas slowly wear away the rocky world, " his eyes narrow,
"you too are a bringer of destruction, are you not?"
Then he smiles, and looks around to everyone, "this is why you
do not fear the Archgriffin - now it is clear to me."

"Destruction brings, and destruction follows." dramatic pause
"And as you said, I am not from this world. Not of its nature."

"Excellent my friend, excellent!" Viri says, delivering a firm
handshake and ignoring the unsettlingly hairy hand. Viri motions
towards the boar roast and says, "You are welcome to share our
camp and company tonight. And I'm sure your human form might be
hungry for more boar than your Raven form could handle." Viri
smiles, and then says, "I reckon we should be ready to set off
on our hunt by dawn. How sounds this to you, master Druid?"

You notice that Popo has stripped his clothes off and is passed
out laying on Barbara-Anne on the beach, with a wool blanket
over him. In the sand next to him is a message written in
druidic, "Do not wake 'til high-tide."

Olly transforms into his simple owl form and hops and hoots in
formal bird greeting to Gremion, conveying his name "Ollyfein"
and then proceeding to hoot his favorite bird jokes - which
don't quite translate to common but might be considered a
variation on knock knock jokes.

Gremion happily sets up camp with the rest of the party, seeming
to enjoy their company and the amusing jokes. "In the morning we
will depart - you will find your prey and I the men, one way or
another."
Gremion pulls a large fur blanket out of his pack, now almost
empty and lays down upon the sand, after eating a bit more of
the pig. He ensures that the smell is covered up, mostly.
