       Life and Society
       Rural life
Farmers dominate the country side, they lease their land and pay
taxes for protection and other services they require of the
ruling class. They live within a mile or so of trading
villages, which is guarded in turn by a local lord and his keep.
When legal disputes arise, it is the manor lord who settles
       disagreements and issues rulings.
       City life
Some townsfolk engage in a craft or trade of some kind, though
for every professional there are three or more common laborers
working in the city. Merchants and shop owners, smiths,
leathers, workers, and artisans of all descriptions live and
within the cities. In the cities, law and order prevails city
watch patrols the streets, a local garrison protects the trade
roads and caravans routes. Courts and councilors hold sway over
matters of law, deciding disputes and determining guilt or
innocence through something akin to due process.
       Economic means
-Six out of ten people in Amn are common farmers, unskilled
laborers who will have no more that 40-50 silver pieces on hand
at any given time, with most having considerably less.
-Three out of ten people are middle class, skilled laborers,
prosperous traders and shop owners, skilled artisans most
nobility and low-level adventurers. Including distance relatives
of dragonmarked families, normally having a few hundred gold
       pieces or more on hand.
-One out of ten people fall into the wealthy category with
access to thousands of gold pieces at any given time. This
class includes merchant lords, barons of commerce, the core
family of the dragonmarked the most popular artisans and mid to
       high level adventurers.
       Education
Education is considered a right with many rural manors
maintaining schools for children of peasants and laborers.
Religious institutions within cities provide schools for those
who will to attend, private tutors for economic nobility and
nobles. In no case is education mandatory, however people are
beginning to understand the advantages offered by education.
       Adventures
Many adventuring parties operate as freelancers some have a
patron who pay their expenses and provide missions that drive. A
dragonmarked house, a church, a university, the crown are all
examples of patrons. The common folk love to read or hear
stories and ballads concerning the champions of good and agents
of evil, and the many tales of adventures. Making bards and
       playwrights popular and wealthy.
       Major Geographical Features
       Regional History
The Dragonmarked houses are the aristocracy that govern over the
6 regions of Amn. They are said to be marked by dragons at the
beginning of time. Either by blessing, curse, or through
marriage. The blood members of each family share the highest
status in the land. Equivalent to the royal house and
       highest-ranking clergy.

       Organizations
       ARCANE INSTITUTIONS
THE FIVE is the arcane institutes established, funded and named
by the dragon marked houses. Formerly powerful magic
universities as centers of arcane learning and research, but
following the spell plague many of the high-level wizards
traveled the world to understand and stop the plague. Few have
returned and those who did are shadows of their former's self’s.
       Order of Emerald Claw
Knightly order that once operated in Amn, when the king dies the
last dragon knight of the order will have been dead over ten
years. But for many years this order protected the crown
regardless of political struggles. Its tombs and holy sites are
said to hold items of great power, both magically and
politically. Legend has it the original weapons of each
Dragonmarked is stored away by the order for a day in need to
beat back the wilds, or to restore order to the region.
