"Perhaps." Raedwald says, dusting off his knuckles. "If we fail,
however, the Council will likely scour this village from the
face of the world. But I can no longer sit idly by as my people
suffer and die. We can use the power hoarded by the Council to
better my people and defend yours. Will you join me? Will you
fight the Iron Council?"

Asmundr pauses pensively and after a few moments answers, "I
will follow you Lord Raedwald, let us assemble what allies you
have that would stand against Bane."

Hesitantly speaking after Asmundr in a calm and slow voice "Lord
Raedwald before we go march on the council could you inform us
about the membership of the council. And also if any, where
would allies be found to join us?"Pauses and takes a deep breath
"I don't wish to go on a dangerous mission without proper
knowledge of my enemies"

"Hah! Allies. Do you think a man like me has friends? No, it
will be but you and I." Raedwald says grimly. "Let us pause this
for now, though. Mila needs only dreams in her head, not plans
of battle. And it seems your knight could use some rest as
well."
Indeed, Thirteen seems terribly shaken by being nearly killed.
He is kneeling with his head in his hands, staring at the floor,
as Billy sits silently beside him, seemingly keeping him propped
up.
Raedwald scoops Mila into his arms, and says, "Come, we will put
these two to bed, and then talk strategy."
Billy helps Thirteen to his feet, and then Raedwald leads you to
the second floor of the castle. He opens a door, and, to your
surprise, the room on the other side is a fully furnished
bedroom, though it has obviously not been used in many years.
Raedwald waves his hand lazily and the dust and cobwebs
disappear. He lays Mila down in a plush bead, and then with a
another wave of his hand starts a fire in the hearth. He then
leads Billy and Thirteen to another room, less lavish, but with
several other beds. He similarly cleans and warms this room,
before leading the rest of you to what appears to be a dining
hall. A long wooden table sits at its center, with several
chairs around it, and two hearths on either side. Raedwald
cleans the table and lights the hearths, and then snaps, and
several pitchers of what looks (and smells) like mulled wine
appear on the table, along with several mugs.
Raedwald seats himself at the head of the table, and then says,
"Now then. As to the matter of the Council... They are Seven.
Amongst my people, they are known as The Father, The King, The
Judge, The Champion, The Headsman, The Vengeance, and The Wrath,
though I knew them each by name long ago. Whoever they were when
I knew them, however, has long since disappeared, their minds
twisted and corrupted by the power of the Ironfell. They have
their seat at the center of Telos City. Or, at least, that is
what the people call it. In truth, it is no true city, but only
appears as one from a distance. Its buildings are spires of fel
iron, flickering with arcane might, and its people mere
apparitions... Memories and ghosts..." Raedwald pauses for a
moment, and stares into one of the pitchers of dark red wine. He
then says, "Each of them, like me, wears an Iron Ring, which
heightens their abilities to superhuman levels, levels that are
only increased by their constant contact with the Ironfell
itself. They wield powerful weapons and terrific spells, forged
in the magical fires of the Giant's Crucible."

*Thanks for finding this David, this is rad! Everyone should
keep in mind, however, that while the descriptions of the world
that are presented here are great inspiration, none of it is
cannon unless it appears on the forum.*

"Powerful weapons and spells, you say Honorable Lord. What
makes this any more than a suicide mission?" Gesturing with my
hand "If they are 7 and as strong as you, Sir Raedwald, what
makes this an achievable goal?" My breathing becomes increasing
labored "I will not" cough*, cough* "march to my" cough* I drop
to my knee "death!" slowing standing up "ughh" my hand
continuing gesturing but this time shaking. Looking at Asmundr
"I have paid my debt to you and your company." Taking a deep
breath "If I find this to be a singular path to death may you
pray to your God but my talents will be gone."

Asmundr considers what his comrade has brought up, ".. What
exactly is your plan Raedwald? How could we possibly rival what
might be the 7 most mighty beings in the Cold Lands? Perhaps
we'll all have to sleep on how to handle what is to come..."
Asmundr bids goodnight to all his companions and thanks Raedwald
for his benevolence and finds a place to sleep.

"Against seemingly insurmountable odds it is common for man to
despair. And I think it is all too understandable that we
question our mortality in the face of Death. But perhaps there
is still hope in this alliance. While my compatriots retire,
Lord what can you tell me about the Castle Perilous and how it
fits into all of this? Beyond my duty I also have a personal
reason to go."

Raedwald is obviously very confused and annoyed, seeing the
person who so vocally sought his aid leave just as the Warlock
Knight was beginning to explain his plan. As Asmundr leaves the
room, Raedwald, with a flick of his wrist, slams the door behind
the young adventurer.
"Now then." Raedwald breathes deeply and adjusts himself in his
seat. "Coming in direct contact with the Ironfell will have a
much more dramatic effect on you than I. While I already bear
most of its power through this ring, you have yet to taste of
it. An eternity of [glow=yellow,8,500]experience[/glow] will
fill your minds, and though you will not quite match the might
of myself or the council members, we may yet be able to defeat
them. They have a tendency to underestimate all other beings,
and it seems to me that we could use this to our advantage." He
strokes his thick auburn beard, and then says, "As to Castle
Perilous... I know not what stirs there. Some time ago, there
was a great surge of magical energy in that area, and the old
facade of castle crumbled away to reveal something smooth and
otherworldly. An investigation by a few Warlock Knights revealed
nothing besides this fact, though that place has a troubling
history. It was constructed by the Witch King Zenghyi in a
single night, and used to bring hordes of demons into this land
from far-flung realms. While Zenghyi himself was defeated long
ago, I do worry what this recent activity could mean."
-----------------
Meanwhile, in the other room
-----------------
Asmundr enters the room with many beds which Raedwald brought
Thirteen to. There are enough beds here for the whole party, and
now that the fire has been going for a while, the room is
actually quite warm and pleasant. Above the crackling of logs,
however, you hear a quiet sobbing. Thirteen, only really half
out of his armor, seems to be crying quietly in his bed.
