The Union of Calimshan
The Union is the result of the unification of most of the human
city-states and half-orc tribes in the Calim desert. It is very
young, having only emerged within the past decade following a
massive unification campaign led by Lurtz

/>and Jack Shepard

/>
The Union is an oligarchy, with absolute authority resting in a
council of 29 representatives, one from each tribe or city and
two from Calimport, the capital, and by far the largest
settlement. Each representative is selected according to the
traditions of the region represented. For example, most of the
half-orc representatives are meritocraticly selected, while the
human representatives are typically either democratically
selected or are the hereditary rulers of the city. Lurtz sits on
this council for the Go'Krom tribe.
As The Union is still in its infancy, it is quite fragile, and
is constantly under threat of breaking apart. There is intense
racial tension, both within the government and throughout the
land, and for the most part settlements are still racially
divided.
