*Easy easy, I worked a twelve hour day yesterday*
Last we left off, the Fallen Star Company (the newly decided
name of this adventuring party) decided to split up: Asmundr,
Geoffrey, Lyrina, Billy and Thorax went North from the mountain
vale, towards the Bloodstone Pass in Damara by way of the
Monastery of the Yellow Rose. Meanwhile, Sir Si'Thum, Blaster,
Campanella and Gasputin remained in the company of Queen
Anneleise, with hopes of currying favor with the leader of
Impiltur.

On their way to the Monastery
HTML http://dndgurnee.createaforum.com/monastery-of-the-yellow-rose/,<br
/>the Northern Group found Clunk
HTML http://dndgurnee.createaforum.com/stats/clunk-the-warforged-barbarian/,<br
/>a strange mechanical man, frozen solid in the mountain pass.
After thawing him out, Clunk agreed to join the group, to repay
them for saving him from an icy prison. The party also
encountered a haggard and desperate looking man, claiming to be
Prince Aglarond (of Aglarond
HTML http://dndgurnee.createaforum.com/aglarond/aglarond-general/).<br
/>He said he had survived the fall of the fortress city of
Glarandar, and claimed that the undead horde was headed for
Vaasa, straight through the Bloodstone Pass. He rode onward,
eager to convince the Impilturians to aid in turning back this
undead host.
Clunk proved to be quite useful when the party encountered a
small party of undead at the base of the Yellow Rose. The
mechanical man dispatched several of them with ease. Thorax
seemed concerned, however, that the undead, previously
accustomed to full frontal assaults, had begun to use scouting
parties.
Thorax, dissuaded by the party from himself going for a full
frontal assault against Bane and his horde of demonic orcs,
decided to remain at the Yellow Rose to reevaluate his options.
And so the party, now five, left him with the remainders of his
forces, and continued North.
Arriving at Bloodstone Pass, the party found the settlement
overflowing with people: many were refugees from the orc attack
on Helgabal
HTML http://dndgurnee.createaforum.com/misc-lore/the-miracle-at-helgabal/,<br
/>while still others were warriors from other parts of Damara
HTML http://dndgurnee.createaforum.com/damara/damara-general/,
called
to the pass to defend their kinsmen. To everyone's great
surprise, the banner of Cormyr
HTML http://dndgurnee.createaforum.com/holy-cormyrn-empire/holy-cormyrn-empire-general/<br
/>was also flying over many of the tents, and it was discovered
that the Lord Commander of the Purple Dragon Knights had
succeeded in turning King Cormyrn's army towards Damara, to
defend against the many foes now headed there.
The party was greeted by the Lord Commander, as well as Brynjolf
HTML http://dndgurnee.createaforum.com/npc's/brynjolf/msg752/#msg752,<br
/>a Damaran who previously rode to Bardertown
HTML http://dndgurnee.createaforum.com/grand-halen/
to warn King
Rognvaldr of the attack on Helgabal. These two then brought the
party to meet with King Torygg Frostmantle, son of the late King
Yarin, who was killed at Helgabal.
King Torygg and the Lord Commander explained that the hordes of
undead and Bane and his demons were likely being drawn to the
powerful magical energies surging out of The Ironfell
HTML http://dndgurnee.createaforum.com/vaasa/the-ironfell-of-vaasa-23/,<br
/>a giant metallic sphere which lies in the center of Vaasa
HTML http://dndgurnee.createaforum.com/vaasa/vaasa-general/,
and is
the source of power for that regions powerful Warlock knights.
They expressed doubt that even the combined forces of Damara and
Cormyr could stop the oncoming hordes from breaching the
Bloodstone Gate and reaching their goal, but they felt that it
might be possible to stop this by somehow using the Ironfell
itself. Quite what they meant was rather unclear, although it
seems that even they are not sure what to do next.
So that is where we begin. The lot of you are in the observation
room atop Bloodstone Keep, with the Lord Commander, King Torygg,
and Brynjolf all in attendance.
In case you've forgotten, here's what you're up against:
An undead horde coming from Thay, with perhaps another undead
horde reinforcing from Grand Halen, led by a mysterious Dark
Rider.
HTML http://dndgurnee.createaforum.com/npc's/the-dark-knight/
A horde of demons from the Dunwood
HTML http://dndgurnee.createaforum.com/dunwoo/dunwood-general/,
led
by some demonic horseman known as The Pumpkin King
HTML http://dndgurnee.createaforum.com/misc-lore/the-pumpkin-king-of-the-dunwood/
An army of orcs, formerly of Thorax's band, but corrupted by the
resurrected god Bane, coming from somewhere near the Great
Glacier, north of Damara.
No one in living memory has crossed into Vaasa
HTML http://dndgurnee.createaforum.com/vaasa/vaasa-general/
and
returned to tell the tale.
Both the Lord Commander and King Torygg have vowed to help you
in whatever ways they can: tools, supplies, weapons, etc.

heart has given me a dreadful head ache and I'm afraid I have
practically blacked out on the way here. Any of you lot have an
idea of where to go from here?"

"Well, while you were suffering from your headache, we have
decided to venture into Vaasa. The Lord Commander and Damaran
leadership have suggested that an expedition into Vaasa may be
our only hope of success at defending against the oncoming
hordes."
Asmundr addresses Torygg, "We will outfit our caravan with
whatever supplies you can spare and be on our way shortly. We
will need rations for several days travel, a map of the area...
if such a thing exists, and your prayers. I have heard rumors of
these Warlock Knights of Vaasa, or maybe they're better called
fairy tales... we will need the guidance of the gods to do any
good in that shadowed land."

Torygg looks eastward out the great windows towards the gloom of
the coming hordes. He says, "We can provide you all the food you
want. There are a lot fewer Damarans around to eat it these
days... However, by the looks of things, you won't need food for
more than five days. After that, this land's fate will likely be
sealed."
He stands from his seat by the fire, and moves to a nearby desk.
He produces and old and weathered map from one of its drawers.
"This is a map that we have from before the time of the Warlock
Knights. Not the original, of course... It's had to be
transcribed many times. But, it should be accurate. For the most
part."
Torygg moves to you and hands over the map, very gingerly. "I do
not know whether the tales about the Warlock Knights are true or
not. We have heard much and more about their terrible power from
traders and refugees who wander toward the Bloodstone Gate.
Scouts posted in the surrounding mountains occasionally report
great bursts of arcane energy, but whether or not these come
from the Warlock Knights or some other source, I cannot say."
His face hardens then, and says, "Whatever is out there, it made
our forefathers feel they needed this massive gate. I would
recommend caution."

"Then we will be off in the morning, we'll make haste to call
assistance from the Lords of Vaasa. Is there anything we know
about these people that will help us turn them to our cause?"
Asmundr attempts a Political Lore check to determine what the
Vaasa Lords might desire in exchange for their assistance
