Yukes are the animated suits of armor and tunics of long dead
warriors. The spirits of these warriors have returned to their
ancient decorations, only to find that their humanoid body has
been turned to dust from centuries of decomposition. The manner
of being which Yukes once were is forever lost to time, the
spirits themselves are devoid of memory of their previous lives.
Whether by the experiences of their previous life, or their
residence in the spirit world, Yukes have developed miraculous
Arcane abilities.
Ability Increases Your Intelligence score increases by 2, and
either your Constitution or Wisdom score increases by 1.
Age. Yukes are ageless.
Alignment. Yukes can be of any alignment. It seems that they are
kind by nature, but time spent in the spirit world can shape
their personality greatly. Perhaps some Yukes resent having
missed millennium in their non-corporeal form, others may just
be happy to be back.
Size. Medium It appears that the previous body of the Yuke was
well over 7' tall and rather slender, but most reanimated suits
of armor are only suspended 5 to 6 feet above the ground a the
helmet.
Speed. Your base walking speed is 20 feet.
Languages. Yukes can speak two languages of your choice.
Living Construct. You are a Construct and a Humanoid. You are
immune to disease and poison. You do not need to breathe, eat,
or drink.
Spirit-Sleep. When you sleep, your mind phases into sleep in the
Ethereal Plane. You wake after exactly 1d8 hours. Besides this,
you suffer the same Resting and Exhaustion rules that other
races do. When forced unconscious, your consciousness is pushed
to the Ethereal Plane, you may still speak using existing
magical means and are aware of your surrounding using
Spirit-Being.
Spirit-Being. Yukes are able to communicate in the Ethereal
Realm with non-corporeal spirits, such as other Yukes, Ghosts,
Specters. You are able to see up to 30 feet into the Ethereal
Plane when in the material plane and vice versa.
Cantrips. You know the Mending and Minor Illusion Cantrips from
the Wizard spell list, both may be cast as rituals for enhanced
effects.
Knowledge from the Ether. You have proficiency in one of the
following Fields of Lore: Planar, Ancient or Magical Lore.
Soul-Bound Armor. A Yuke's body is his armor he therefore counts
as a Construct, but a Humanoid. The Yuke is a metal helm (or
other object to serve as a headpiece) and armor of any type you
select you are proficient in, including no armor. Your armor
still weighs on your body; all the rules of encumbrance and
carrying still apply and you sink in water. You can attune with
new armor as described in the DMG on attuning to magic items.
You You may choose to die at any moment as a free action,
breaking the bond with your armor.
Fade to the Ethereal Plane. Once per long rest, as an Action, a
Yuke is able to phase into the Ethereal Plane for one turn. This
has a 1 turn duration.
