High Imaskar and The First Colossus

Long before all but the Oldest Souls in Faerun can remember
there was what the legends now call "The War of Giants".
Far to the east lay the earliest formations of what is now
       called High Imaskar
  HTML http://dndgurnee.createaforum.com/high-imaskar/,
       on the edge of
the great Twin Deserts. In these lands the people found and
tamed the giant flying insects (think dragonflies, but 10-15m
long) called Redwings and entered an era of prosperity. They
built giant spires for themselves and their winged friends out
of stone, and quickly expanded. The oldest and grandest spire
still standing today is the Skyclave, topped by the Palace of
Purple, giving the Emperor view of all his lands.
But what the Emperor could not see, was his most loved son's
death. It became instantly clear that the Emperor could not
accept his son's death - however in his time of need, a figure,
known only as the "Wizard of Life", appeared before the Emperor
claiming he could recover his son, but he would need the soul of
a Colossus. The Colossus was known to wander the Twin Deserts,
protected by nomadic Giant Tribes, hostile to anyone who
       approached.
The two younger sons of the Emperor gathered the grandest army
ever seen by High Imaskar and departed atop their Great Redwings
(the size of a an adult Dragon), determined to prove their worth
to their father. As months went by, little was heard from the
brothers until one day a lone horse, with a man carrying another
in his arms appeared at the gates of Skyclave. The two brothers
had come back alone, but not empty handed. A purple crystal, the
size of a man's hand, appeared to be filled with an off-white
fluid - the soul of The Colossus. They told stories about how
the 40m tall Colossus devoured men as the Giant's crushed their
bones. Only by landing on The Colossus's head did the brothers
manage to take it down and through, what they claimed to be
intervention from Tempus himself, make it back to their father
       alive.
The Wizard of Life fulfilled his promise, returning the eldest
brother to the Emperor, binding the soul of The Colossus to the
son forever. For a time, the Emperor and his three honored sons
ruled the land, ushering in another period of glorious growth.
But the Giants have wills of steel, and unforgiving hearts. At
first they came only in small numbers, forcing the farmers off
of their lands, but they marched ever onward towards Skyclave.
The Emperor ordered great walls built to keep the invaders out,
but everyday soon became a struggle for survival.
Clinging to the fortune he once had, the Emperor died in safety
high atop Skyclave, leaving his broken and besieged kingdom to
his three sons. Naturally, the eldest took the throne, and the
two brothers ensured Skyclave never fell... as did their sons...
and their son's sons.... and after that. Generations passed,
High Imaskar had no more than a shadow leader, and entered into
       the dark ages.
High Imaskar became known throughout the lands as Giant Slayers,
responding with their own wills of steel, but could do little
more. Until one day a strange man dressed in all white entered
the Palace of Purple, only to fly off with the Emperor into the
desert. One day later the Giants stopped the siege, returning to
the desert from whence they came.
Now with steeping walls, highly refined weapons, High Imaskar
quickly expanded far beyond it's Golden Age borders, resulting
in what we see today, never encountering another Giant. But
their history is not forgotten, the Redwing Riders, Giant
Slayers of Old, are known today as the Vengeance.
