Hoss sighs, heaves himself up, and follows the kid. While doing
so a flock of geese slowly lines themselves up behind him,
single file.

The kid leads you back up the hill towards the city gates. The
sun is little more than a bright spot buried in the clouds above
the sea, and the mist of the afternoon has turned into a colder
evening shower. As you pass through the city's gates, you notice
that the guards, who have changed since the last time you came
through, are standing at attention in the rain instead of
huddled around the fire in the guardhouse as you would expect.
You come to the central plaza, typically filled with Thunderdome
spectators, but the only people you see are patrols of buards.
Looking up at the palace, you notice significantly more buards
on both the steps and the upper levels than you've ever seen.
There are non-uniformed personnel standing guard as well, a few
of whom you recognize as more prominent adventurers— Aldan
Firegut, Drona, all five members of the Ivory Hand... You sense
many eyes on you as you pass through. The child is eying the
adventurers the whole time, beaming.
The kid brings you down the avenue towards the Adventure's End.
You can smell roasting meat from several yards off, though it's
not nearly as overwhelming as during the celebrations. There's
also some faint music. Stepping into the tavern, you see a few
people seated here and there, sipping on beer or cutting up
chunks of roasted meat. In the center of the room, near the
cook-fire, is seated a lean young man with olive skin and dark
hair. He's plucking out a slow sweet tune on a sitar, and
singing the tale of Sigrun the Shield-Maiden.
Mary Ironarm approaches your group from behind the bar and
scoops the kid up, seating her on top of her shoulders.
"About time you lot showed up," she says, mussing her child's
hair, "There were two messages while you were away. I left them
both up in your room with your elf friend, but he's not really
the talking sort. One was from a buard, seemed important." She
looks Blaster up and down and grins "You look like someone gave
you a proper thrashin"

"Oie, someone did Maury, but ya know I still like your
thrashin's the best!" Blaster gives Mary a wink as he walks up
to where Geoffrey is.

You head upstairs and towards the second room on the right,
where you remember Geoffrey was staying. You notice that the
door seems to be made of new wood. Opening the door, you find
Geoffrey seated at a table, writing in a journal.
Meanwhile, downstairs...
The little girl pats her mothers head and says, pointing at
Hoss, "Mum, this man here's got some gooses he wants to sell
us!"
Mary raises her eyebrow at Hoss. "Does he now? And how many
birds've you got, Mr. Goose Salesman?"

Lyrina decides against the stairs and waits around with Mary and
Hoss, curious about the geese.
"Geese huh? You don't look like you could take care of one, let
alone a flock"

Waiting for Geoffrey to finish his journal, which he is
obviously very captivated by, Blaster checks the mail and
attempts to read it. Upon failing to figure out the lettering or
diction, he brings the letters downstairs to Mary to decipher.

While waiting for Hoss to count his geese for what must be the
fifth time, Mary looks at what you have brought her.
"Well, Blaster, this one isn't even a letter." She says, shaking
a blank sheet of paper and a wooden coin out of the first
envelope. "S'pose that girl weren't one for words either," She
hands you the coin, which is well worn and surprisingly soft, as
well as the parchment. On one face of the coin is carved a tree,
and on the other, a harp.
"This one, however, seems rather important." The letter she
holds is sealed with wax, and bears the royal emblem of Grand
Halen. Mary breaks the seal and begins to read the letter
quietly to you. "'Blaster and company— Please come see me as
soon as possible. You'll find me in my chambers on the second
level of the palace. —Shepard'. Sounds like some pretty serious
business there, Blaster. Don't go pouring more'n you can drink."
