Trump caved the government is open again

Trump caved and opened the government today but only for 3
weeks. He wants to give his State of the union in front of
everyone and he needs to get the federal employees paid to ease
the pressure on him. It's only going to make it worse.

I've asked this question before, I'll ask it again. What are
your best arguments against a wall on the southern border in the
US? I mean, your progressive heroes Schumer and Pelosi were all
in favor of a wall just a few short years ago, but something
must have changed since then. I'll wait.

Not a total wall they weren't. And my argument against it? It's
racist as fuck. Someone told me that if I lock my doors at
night, I want the wall whether I admit it or not. And I'm like,
no. Locks keep everyone out. The wall keeps Mexicans out. One
racist and one is not. Also, it's a HUGE waste of taxpayer
money. It will not stop drugs or people coming into this
country.
These racist people who want it are the last gasp of old white
bigotry who think because they have pale skin they are better
than everyone else. I'm super pale skinned as you can see in my
pic but I'm no better than anyone else. So, there ya have. It's
racist and a huge waste of money.
Also, glad to see you made it. How boring would it be if I
didn't have my political Nemesis's.

it's bullshit and won't do anything positive. It is the theft of
hundreds of miles of private land and sanctuaries that would
destroy wildlife & the environment. Also, almost all of this
land couldn't be squired by any legal means and Von FF was known
for trying to bribe officials to use eminent domain for his
hotel &casino parking lots before he was able to squat in the
big house, In my personal opinion, that is what this was about
as well as building private prisons and using people as free
serf labor

Is The Republican Party Beyond Hope?
‘I hope we get some common sense’: Republicans reeling from
political damage caused by shutdown
President Trump and the GOP’s confrontation over a border wall
not only provoked the longest government shutdown in history but
inflicted serious political damage and deepening rifts in a
party reeling from midterm losses and facing daunting challenges
in 2020.
In private, irritated Republican senators lashed out at each
other over the 35-day shutdown — with conservative hard-liners
and moderates attacking Trump’s strategy and his decision to
capitulate by reopening the government without winning a dime
for his border wall.
Many congressional Republicans say they knew the impasse would
not end well for the GOP, but went along with Trump in the name
of party unity.
Now, with Trump’s approval numbers dropping and Republicans
divided in the aftermath, the party is looking to repair the
short-term political harm they suffered — even as they face
another showdown over the same issue next month.
“I hope we get some common sense out of it,” Rep. Peter T. King
(R-N.Y.) said, reflecting on what the Republican Party gained
from the shutdown fight. “We lost the election in November and
now we’ve lost six weeks to get our strength back, to get our
position back.”
The shutdown — prompted by Trump’s demand for a portion of a
border wall that Democrats made clear they would never indulge —
saddled Republicans with yet another political crisis at one of
the most tempestuous moments of the Trump presidency.
It came fewer than three months after a midterm election that
handed Democrats control of the House and exposed major problems
for the GOP among suburban voters and women, which may predict
greater difficulties in 2020.
And it landed as special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s probe
into Russian interference in the 2016 election has moved deeper
into Trump’s inner circle, raising questions about the future of
his presidency with a Democratic House armed with investigatory
and impeachment powers.
Interviews with Republican lawmakers and strategists illustrated
the frustration and discord within the party over the partial
government closure, which Trump said in December he would be
“proud” to take responsibility for.
“He put a lot of American federal workers through hell for
nothing. This whole idea of building the wall was not something
that had any validity on Capitol Hill,” said former Republican
National Committee chairman Michael Steele. “If this was a such
a priority for them, why didn’t they pass it over the last two
years?”
Indeed, it was clear from the start of the wall confrontation
that it would only get more difficult for Trump to get the
desired funding, particularly when Democrats officially took
control of the House on Jan. 3. Trump had been talked out of a
showdown over the wall in previous spending fights, as
congressional Republicans warned him of the potential electoral
consequences.

And ALL of this too!! I should've add of this to my post. There
are so many horrible reasons to NOT have it and NO good ones to
have it. Anyone with any common sense can see that.

Calling the Republican party... Party of One
~ [member=50]Knox[/member] ~ The Republican Party doesn't even
have a wooden leg to stand on the Trump wall issue and the other
fiascos he brought about due to his total lack of comprehension
and understanding irregardless.
They elected an individual who was clueless as to how the three
branches of government functioned and who continues to ignore
them to our countries detriment.
Yet time and again the Republican party prop up their straw man
and follow along behind him. Some brave soul needs to pat their
pockets in search of a match. 8)

Trump Advisers Lied Over and Over Again, Mueller Says. The

They lied to the public for months before Donald Trump was
elected — and then repeatedly after he took office.
They lied to Congress as lawmakers sought to investigate
Russia’s attack on American democracy in 2016.
And they lied to the FBI, even when they knew lying was a crime.
In indictments and plea agreements unveiled over the last 20
months, special counsel Robert S. Mueller III has shown over and
over again that some of President Trump’s closest friends and
advisers have lied about Russia and related issues.
On Friday, Mueller laid out a new allegation: that longtime
Trump confidant Roger Stone lied to Congress and obstructed its
probe of Russia’s interference in the 2016 campaign.
Trump and his associates have dismissed the serial deception as
a sideshow that has little to do with the central question of
the Mueller investigation: whether his campaign engaged in a
criminal conspiracy with Russia.
