       Standoff in Butte MT ends after 10hrs, Suspect Surrenders

       A suspect who boarded a bus in Butte MT, and was believed to be
       armed with a firearm and an explosive device has surrendered to
       police after a 10 hour standoff.
       According to reports, shots were fired inside the bus, but no
       passengers were hurt, and the police ended up using chemical
       agents fired into the bus to force the surrender, and no
       officers were harmed during the takedown.
       The man boarded the bus going to Billings from Missoula around
       midday, and immediately held the driver at gunpoint and ordered
       him to take the bus to Butte courthouse, according to a witness.
       According to The Great Falls Tribune's reporting, the man
       allowed all but one hostage/passenger to be released, and the
       final passenger was allowed to leave the bus after negotiations
       with authorities at approximately 2:30pm.
       … "The nearby Butte Civic Center was evacuated and the
       surrounding streets were blocked off while authorities
       negotiated with the suspect, Missoula's KTMF-TV reported.
       By evening, the Butte police SWAT unit still had their weapons
       pointed at the bus in a parking lot near the civic center,
       according to the report. Sheriff Ed Lester said the suspect had
       a handgun and was carrying an explosive device.".
