I generally enjoy music that is intense, but my taste has a soft
side as well. There is almost nothing I won't listen to as the
range of what I like is huge. I'm outside the demographics of
most of what I'm enjoying due to my age. Old folks with my
interests are fairly rare, I think.
Growing up I listened to and played (piano) a lot of classical
music. At the same time I loved R & B and Soul. I think I was
fortunate to come of age during the Viet Nam and protest era due
to the great music that was spawned as a result. Since then I
have sampled whatever has come along, and it's been interesting.
Listened to a lot of old school rap like 8 Ball & MJG, Master P,
David Banner, Triple 6... And "discovered" Rage Against the
Machine which my son and his friends enjoyed. Laughed a lot at
ICP when they played it for me. Then there was Smashing
Pumpkins, Stone Temple Pilots, Green Day, Nine Inch Nails,
Offspring, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Korn, Marilyn Manson,
Metallica...
There is no end to new expressions in music, and I'm up for all
of it from metal to hick hop. I don't particularly care for
reggae or jazz, but I'll listen to that, too!

I don't know if it's because my ears are about half fried,
because of my mental health issues, or some other ineffable
reason, but I can't take the pleasure in music I used to.
I still enjoy Outlaw Country, Urban Cowboy, Classic Country,
Honky-tonk, Texas swing, Classic Rock, and scraps and pieces of
new music (Disturbed's take on "Hello Darkness" is stellar, and
Lollipop Lust Kill's "Personal Jesus"'s guitars are phenomenal),
but these days if it's not two or three tunes then I'm off to do
something else then it's more than likely whatever is playing on
the college Classical Music station.

I always say that every genre has some great songs...I love it
all. Patsy Cline, Marilyn Manson, Project Pat, Rage Against the
Machine, Rammstein, DJ Delora, Nirvana, Hendrix, Black
Sabbath...
I can hang with anything...just depends on my mood. I love it
all

Life has been a real pain these past few years and I have little
patience for the music I used to enjoy. My preference is
usually silence, but the least fatiguing music to my brain comes
from jazz and classical. Jazz Impressions of Peer Gynt is one
of my favorite collections to listen to while driving. It
smooths out my brainwaves.
