Holly Cota & Scott Edwards arrested for splitting 14mo son's
tongue with scissors

Holly Cota, 28, and boyfriend Scott Edwards, 33, were arrested
last Friday in connection with injuring the child, WTHI-TV
reported. The boy was taken to the Union Hospital in Terre
Haute, the New York Post reported, citing the Tribune Star.
Edwards is facing charges of aggravated battery and neglect of a
dependent. Officers said Cota lied about how the child's
injuries occurred, the station reported.
The emergency room staff told WTHI that the boy also suffered
bruises and other injuries in addition to the split tongue.
"I am appalled. I am disgusted. My heart hurts. When that's all
you can think about is that poor baby going through that with
nobody for him to be his voice and say stop...you're hurting me.
It just breaks my heart," Chelsie Loose, a family friend, told
the station.

At first, when the piercing shops started the whole tongue
splitting thing, they used sterile disposable medical scalpels,
but most these days have invested in small cutting lasers that
cauterize as they cut, and reduce bleeding and infections.
I can not fathom why anyone would conceive of doing this to a 14
month old, for any reason.
A small child can bleed out from a severe enough cut to the
tongue - I know because I slipped and fell running on a terrazzo
floor as a 2 year old and bit the first 1.5 inches of my tongue
off, it was dangling by an 1/8th inch from one side, and I can
still see my little face in the mirror as my mom kept rinsing
the blood out of my open mouth just before rushing me to the
hospital.
They told her then I was lucky she acted quickly getting me
there, and they stitched me up just fine.
Of course, the benefit for me at that age was I could go around
to show people my stitches and not get in trouble for sticking
my tongue out, and I can now both *fold and roll* my tongue. :P
What kind of monsters cut a child's tongue intentionally?
How did they expect that baby to eat, drink, or be without
horrible pain for weeks, especially since scissors also *crush
things as thick as flesh when cutting them*?
Dawg, I loath people like this, if ever there are cases and
candidates for forced sterilization, these two belong in that
group.

Sounds like mom’s bf was the one that actually did the tongue
cutting & then mom went straight to the police to turn in the
monster who hurt her precious baby— lies to police & tried to
cover up for her dotm by claiming the injury was caused by a
fall off the bed! ::) She’s now charged w obstruction.
