       Chassis not sitting right
By: Jamesieboy Date: June 24, 2017, 6:08 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Hi just wondering if anyone else is having an issue with there
rolling chassis not sitting square? My front n/s tyre is hardly
touching the ground, in fact I can spin it with out moving the
chassis. All the others seem fine, if I press down on the
suspension tower to get it to touch the ground as suspected the
one on the rear o/s can be spun. Has anyone else encountered
this problem? Wondering if my chassis is slightly twisted, did
find that my steering rack didn't fit quite right on that side.
When I put it on the bottom like in the mag the top part gets
stuck in the hole on the top plate. To compensate this I've had
to put the rack to the top. Sorry for the long post and hope
you's can understand what I am talking about lol.

Howdy...I understand what you mean. Mine seems fine. All wheels
are connecting fine with the floor. Did you double check
everything? Wheels are all in correct position etc...?
Frustrating I know...otherwise not sure what you can do...

You're spot on, I believe some were slightly twisted, it's been
mentioned a few times. I would sit it on a flat surface and try
to determine which way it's twisted, then try to GENTLY twist it
in the opposite direction, all the time checking for squareness.

Thanks for the replies guys, have some holidays coming up. Might
strip the chassis. See if can find where there could be a twist
       in it.

id recommend using some heat to help you bend it or you could
       crack or stress the metal

Hi guys :) just a wee update, received my latest mags and parts.
The day I went on Holiday (just before I left, so took them with
me to study them), so when I came back I got to work :). First
issue and part was the radiator, nice and easy in fact too easy
lol. Then on too the next issue, the Chassis plate and the other
wee cover thing. Again very easy and quick to do, in fact
sometimes feel they could do with giving you more to do in some
issues, both parts all tightened up sat it down guess what. Yes
it sat perfect the wheel on the n/s/f, which was one that sat
high and could turn with out moving the chassis now sat on the
ground. Any attempted to turn it, or any other wheel, resulted
in the whole chassis assembly moving and all wheels turning :).
Very happy for now, will see what happens as the rest of the
chassis/car builds up. Hoping this has fixed the problem though
       and it is looking good.

Bizarrely I logged back in to this forum after a few very
eventful months personally, because I'm having the same issue
with the chassis... I live in Canada so am relying on family in
the U.K. to send me bulk issues (around 20 at a time) so I'm
only up to issue 20. I have issues 21-31 with me here but have
no time on the horizon when I expect to be able to get stuck
in... the difficult part will be backtracking to replace a few
faulty parts that needed to be duplicated for me. Anyway...
I had a few engine parts seem to have screws that were a smidge
too long so the gearbox/bell housing/block assembly is loose
where the components are joined. I reckon I need to either use
some CA glue, or perhaps a washer to space out the screw or
maybe file down the screws that seem too long.
But my main concern at the moment is a twisted chassis - I don't
have the wheels on yet (one of the faulty parts was a suspension
wishbone) and when I place the chassis upside down on a flat
surface, one corner is higher than the others. In fact, its
       visible to the naked eye.
I'd prefer not to twist it back myself because if I break it I'm
screwed, but something needs to be done. I'm hoping that, like
the OP, when I fit the chassis plates, it'll sort itself out.
But I'm not looking forward to having to undo lots of steps if
that doesn't work and I need to manually twist it...
       Any thoughts from anyone? Thanks!

Sadly I can't really help you here as I never thought of
checking my chassis before building it up. Not sure if the twist
is that noticeable that the chassis plate will manage to
straighten it out. Might be worth putting it upside down again
and measuring it to find where twist is, then take note of it.
If when you build it up, that way if it doesn't straighten out
you hopefully won't have to strip it down too much. I can't
offer any help on how to straighten it if necessary as I had no
idea how I was going to do it if I'd had too. What I can say is
the comment about using heat is a very good idea. Just hope that
yours will be ok, and they stay straight lol.

My chassis was fine until i snapped one of the wheels off at the
brake disk when trying to force a screw building the engine. I
got a replacementand when fitted the wheel I replaced was
spinning in mid-air and no longer touching the ground. However
when I fitted (name of the part escapes me - but its a piece of
heavy metal) it rectified itself and all wheels now touch the
surface so hopefully when you do yours it will fix it.
