       Please note: Any threads you make will be hidden from the
       public, and only moderators will be able to read them.
       Applications for moderator positions are now OPEN!
       This thread will provide some insight into the application and
       actual selection process we will be undertaking for this
       application period. Please keep in mind that this is a very long
       thread, so there is a glossary below to help you find the
       specific information you will need.
       GLOSSARY

       [anchor=format]Posting Format[/anchor]
       Okay, so first up, let's lay out how your application needs to
       be formatted. Your application needs to include the following
       information:

       - Your real name.

       - Your age.

       - Your skills.

       - Any previous experience you've had in a position like this.

       - Your hobbies/interests.

       - Concluding statement to bring the whole thing together.
       The application needs to be in paragraph format and must be no
       longer than 500 words. Think of it as being like a resume.

       [anchor=role]The Role of A DelevationScape Moderator[/anchor]
       The role of a DelevationScape Moderator is quite important. They
       are the representatives of DelevationScape and they help to
       enforce the rules. Mods have the ability to ban & mute players
       who break the rules. It's a lot of power, and with a lot of
       power comes a lot of responsibility.
       Their main task is to ensure that the game is fun for all. This
       means that rule breakers need to be banned/muted (depending on
       the type of offence), complaints need to be listened to and
       dealt with, and they need to do all this professionally, without
       favouritism. The job isn't easy; that's why only a specific type
       of person can do it, and that's why we have this application
       process set out how it is.
       [anchor=selection]The Selection Process[/anchor]
       The selection process we undertake is done the way it's done so
       that we have the best chance of picking the person best suited
       for the role and the tasks required of that role. Once we've
       received enough applications, we will go through and read each
       one of them thoroughly. Once we've chosen a select few from the
       talent pool, we will let the selected members know. If you are
       chosen, you will receive a personal message on the forums from
       us, outlining the duties and responsibilities of the role.
       The process takes place over a few days and only begins when
       we've actually received a few applications.
       [anchor=tips]Tips to Make Yourself Stand Out[/anchor]
       It's easiest to think of your application as being like a sort
       of resume. It needs to be informative, engaging, easy to read,
       and eye-catching. You want to make us feel like we can trust
       you, rely on you, and we also want to feel like we'd easily be
       able to get along with you.

       [anchor=current_mods]The Current DelevationScape Moderator
       Team[/anchor]
       Currently, there is only one player moderator, who is also our
       head of Player Moderation.

       We are in need of player moderators, but this is a large
       responsibility. Abuse of power will have very large
       repercussions.

       [anchor=perks]Moderator Perks & Abilities[/anchor]
       If you're only applying to get the silver crown and the perks,
       you may as well not even bother. It's easy for us to tell who
       would make a good moderator and who wouldn't just by your
       personality and in-game traits that we've observed. We will only
       be picking people for the position who we truly believe would
       bring a certain set of skills to the role. Wannabe Mods are
       quite easy to pick, so go off the assumption that we will not
       pick you if you are simply a WBM.
       The Silver Crown
       The silver crown is what a lot of players want moderator status
       for. It is essentially a symbol of authority. All player
       moderators have this silver crown to show that they are in-fact
       a moderator. Anyone who says they are a moderator but does not
       have the crown is impersonating a moderator and is breaking the
       rules. The crown shows up in ALL forms of chat and cannot be
       hidden or disabled.
       Abilities - Banning & Muting
       All player moderators have the ability to ban and mute players.
       They only exercise this ability when it is needed, and all
       decisions made by a player moderator are always looked at by an
       administrator to determine whether or not the course of action
       taken at the time was needed.
       [anchor=skills]The Skills Required[/anchor]
       There are a certain set of skills a moderator requires:
       - Patience - You're going to be dealing with people who are
       really annoying.
       - Professionalism - In any situation, it is imperative that you
       are professional in your conduct. Once again, you are a
       representative of DelevationScape. You need to keep our image
       looking as good as possible.
       - Maturity - You ALWAYS need to be mature about what you do.
       This goes hand-in-hand with professionalism.

       [anchor=conclusion]Conclusion, Summary & Final Notes[/anchor]
       So, now you know all about DelevationScape moderators and what
       it takes to be one, what do you do now? Well, quite simply, it's
       time to post your applications!
       Remember: The application needs to be in paragraph format and
       must be no longer than 500 words. Think of it as being like a
       resume. It also needs to be in paragraph format and must follow
       the [iurl=#format]provided format[/iurl].
       Once you've posted your application, only moderators will be
       able to see it, as it will be automatically hidden from public
       view. As stated, the application & selection processes take
       place over a couple of days, but obviously they only begin after
       we've received a few applications - so hurry up and apply now!
       We are only looking for the best of the best, and as stated, we
       will not be choosing any WBM's (Wannabe Mods). Trust me, we can
       tell who is and who isn't a WBM.
       If you've been selected for the position, we will send you a
       private message on the forums and update your status on the
       forums and in-game. As soon as you get that crown in-front of
       your name, you'll have access to the private, staff-only boards
       on the forums and the following commands in-game:
       - ::ban
       - ::unban
       - ::mute
       - ::unmute
       It is your responsibility to ban or mute players who are
       breaking the rules. Please note that all actions you take will
       be viewed by the DelevationScape team and we will decide whether
       or not the action you took was appropriate for the situation. If
       you abuse these commands and abilities, you will have your
       moderator status taken off you, and depending on the severity of
       your misconduct, you could even get banned.

       Conclusion, Summary & Final Notes - Cont.
       Part of being a moderator requires you to wear the Quest Cape,
       which will be added to your inventory at the point in time when
       your status in-game is updated to moderator status. This cape
       serves as like a uniform. Only moderators are able to wear it,
       and by wearing it, it allows players to pick you out from the
       crowd. This may sound like it could get a bit annoying, but you
       did sign up for the role in the first place, so don't complain
       unless you want your status removed.
       If you ever need any help or ever have any questions regarding
       your role or what actions to take when you see a specific type
       of rule breaking taking place, please feel free to use the
       moderator-only forum section, where many of your questions will
       already be answered. If, however, some of your questions are
       still left unanswered, you'll always have the opportunity to
       create your own threads in that section with your questions, and
       a fellow moderator or member of the DelevationScape team will be
       happy to help.
       That's all for now, but always remember this: “With great power
       comes great responsibility” - Voltaire.
       Thank you.
