Re: Prologue - The Brawling Bear

"Yes, good dwarf, how may I serve you? First drunk is on the
house, and as for the lady, do I get you two are traveling
companions?"
T'boch looked at Belwar with the same grin he gave Forhrlit, one
of understanding and amusement.
At that moment, a pack of sailors barged in the tavern. Two of
them shot for the ring, drawing cheers and whistles from the
patrons. The others came and took a good long look at our trio,
then decided to come "inspect" the woman.
"Hey T'boch, I'll take me a chick's leg", said one.
"Maybe some of your whisky for me", went another.
"One for me, one for her", said the last.
"None of this shit in my bar, Benzel. She's not for sale."
T'boch put a hand under the counter as he said that.
"Shut up, eunuch. I don't want to buy, I want to rent. Or take,
if she's good..."
Please tell me if this makes you uncomfortable. I will change it
if it does. After this post, I will be making sure every player
took his turn before answering. Sorry for that sluggish start.

Forhrlit hears the den of activity about her but almost doesn't
notice ... she's lost for a moment in the ecstasy of the drug.
The darkness near .But her fear..a touch away...a touch away...
Forhrlit looks up abruptly at T'bloch with fierce dark eyes and
says " I will never serve ale, mead or otherwise. My mother was
a serving wench and they let her die!" Her voice growing and
pulling her hood back abruptly reveling her bright pink hair
whilst turning on the dwarf for a scant moment with a crocked
smile. Then turns to the insulting men and just stairs with a
jet black eyes.

"By the way, kind sir," Forhrlit says over her shoulder to
T'bloch, " my name is Forhrlit. Would be rude not to introduce
myself to a gracious host. My mother thought me better than to
be rude.."

"Oh, I umm... I am sorry, I tend to be a bit on edge these...
Never mind that, I'll take something strong then. It would be a
shame to turn down a good strong drink now!" Belwar laughs
rhetorically. "So tell me, do you get many visitors here? How is
business? I hear there are finer things to be had outside of the
mead."

"Well of course, master dwarf. Here you go", said the barkeeper
while taking his eyes off the sailors. He went as fast as he
could in scooping a small glass and pouring Belwar some fine
brandy. He then started to fill a tankard with an extra bitter
ale, thinking the strong dwarf would like it. He placed the two
cup before the dwarf.
"Business is as usual, sir... We're doing better than la..." and
at that exact moment, the sailor named Benzel made a move
towards Forhrlit.
"C'mere sweetie, I won't hurt ya!"
And he reached to grasp her arm. His two acolytes were laughing
and eyeballing the woman with evident lust.

Even with Forhrlit's new found confidence due to the "special
liquor" her reaction to being touched by the man is cold fear in
her heart. She doesn't make much of a noise besides a sharp
breath, her eyes go wide and before thinking she reaches back,
grasps the mug of her untouched stout and flings the liquid her
assailants face. She had seen people do it before. It was
strange to her, like her arm was acting on its own. The Pewter
Mug rattles on the floor.

Forhrlit's mind immediately focuses on the rapier hidden under
her cloak , although she makes no move for it ...yet..

Belwaer lunges his arm towards his hand axe but catches himself
once he grabs the handle. "This is not my battle." He whispers
to himself as he loosens his grip. Belwaer decides to just watch
with content trying to read Forhrlit's body language, steadily
waiting and wanting to see her prove herself in battle if it
came down to it.

The three sailor immediately went quiet. One in the back was
apparently nervous, the other had this little knowing smirk. But
the look on Benzel's face was maybe the worst. He was absolutely
without emotion.
"Very well, lass. You want it hard, we'll make it hard!", he
said while tackling her against the bar. Reflex save DC 13 =
1d20 (17) + Dex (3) + prof (2) = 22.
Forhrlit quickly rolled to her left as the not-so-drunk sailor
smash right in front of T'boch. The other two fellas jumped in
after that, one aiming to cut Forhrlit's retreat's, one to
prevent Belwar from interfering.

From under Forhrlit's cloak flashed forth her rapier. She was
immediately in a fighting stance. She was on auto now. Focused
on Benzel but aware of his friends.
She always felt at home in the shadows but she so enjoyed the
kind of numbness that came with battle too. It was all those
damn in-between parts that were so uncomfortable.
Suddenly she was springing forward at Benzel. Aiming to kill.
