       Prologue - The Brawling Bear
By: Lars Date: July 3, 2016, 10:25 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
"Welcome to the Brawling Bear", said the barmaid. "I'll be with
       you in a minute."
The place looked pretty neat, especially since the rumours told
of a place where unsavory characters came to witness the fights
in the pit, at the center. Everything, from support beams to
tankards looked as if it could stand a whirlwind. The room was
not very decorated, aside from some fishing and hunting trophies
on the walls. Only a few sailors and peasants were present, all
       humans and halflings.

Forhrlit waits impatiently and pulls the hood of her black cloak
a bit farther over her face. Places like this make her nervous.
People make her nervous. She could really use a drink.

Belwar steadily plops down and begins to rummage through his
things, looking for a pipe and tobacco but realizes he lost it
in his previous battle. He stares boldly at the barmaid, waiting
for her to crack a smile.

Forhrlit, not much caring to speak, places the appropriate
coinage on the table for a mug of ale and hopes the barmaid gets
       the hint.

Looking at the woman trying to hide her face, a man approaches
from behind. With a deep voice and a foreign accent, he says
:"You are amongst your kind her, girl. What gets you rolling?
Ale, stout, lager, pilsner, something more kicked?"
"T'boch, you want to serve this master dwarf, please?", asked
       the barmaid.
"Sure, Brenda, go home. I'll handle it. Here's your pay for
today", said the short man. He tossed her a small pouch with
coins clicking in it. He was wearing an immaculate white apron
on top of his linen shirt and brown trousers. From his hips
hanged two bottles, a weird looking contraption and a small
leather pouch. The contraption looked like a curved hammer or
pipe, with a hole down the steel shaft that composed the
       "handle" of the hammer.
The man went around Forhrlit and across the bar, and stopped
right across her, to wait for her answer. He then raised his
voice, soothing until now, to hail Belwar.
"Master dwarf, may I interest you in a dwarven ale or fine
halfling mead? I may also have some... stronger stuff", he said
with a grin, never taking his eyes off of Forhrlit.

Forhrlit nods slightly at the short man, eying his nice cloths.
The bar folk she is used to are usually of a seeder variety. "A
stout please, sir" she says trying her best but only seeming to
       muster a slight smile.

His voice going back to that light soothing whisper, T'boch
replied: "A stout for the lady, then".
He scooped up a tankard and filled it with a black and silky
beer, and placed the tankard in front of her. In the pewter cup,
the smell of metal intertwined with the roasty, sweet smell of
coffee flavored stout. Next to the tankard, he placed a small
rye bread loaf and a tiny glass filled with a brown liquor.
"Keep your coin, lady Anonymous, it's on the house. What else do
       you need? Bed? Stabling? Work?"

Forhrlit, experiencing an unusual warmth toward this agreeable
gentleman - so generous! He could sense her hunger and anxiety!
       - before thinking, oversteps her own internal boundaries and
meets eyes with him. Outwardly she tries to remain calm but
inwardly recoils from his direct gaze. She knows this fear can't
be rational yet it is as real as her toes clenching tightly in
her own boots. She just knows he can see it in her eyes.
Forhrlit quickly locks her eyes on her mug of stout and manages
in a soft but even voice,"You are too kind, sir. I - I could do
with a bed and if you do know of any work I - I , but I'm sorry"
-remembering her manners, the manners her mother taught her- "my
       name is Forhrlit..."
She quickly takes the shot of brown liquor and smiles a little,
       ever so slightly glancing up.

Flashing Forhrlit a smile revealing a few silver teeth, T'boch
said: "I've been where you are. I have a few rooms upstairs, and
there's plenty of work to be done around here. Look to the
bulletin board over there. You'll pay me when you can".
Rolling up his sleeves, he unveiled muscular arms covered in
exotic tattoos. Not very big nor tough looking, the man still
       was a pleasing sight.
"I'm T'boch, hailing from far away, and this here is the
Brawling Bear, my home, work and love. I hope you liked my
homebrewed whisky. There is a special ingredient in there that
will keep you awake and relaxed for a while."
As he said that, Forhrlit felt something funny, as if her mental
defenses were failing her. If she concentrated on them, she
could feel in control, but the fact was clear: he had drugged
       her.

"Now, what kind of gal are you? The one that serves mead or the
one that seeks treasure and adventure?"

"Well it's a good thing I never ordered yet." Belwar said to
himself as he jumped up to meet T'Boch with a stern look.
"Alright lad, leave the lady alone, I think shes been troubled
enough! Or we can make a real name out of this place, "Brawling
       Bear.""
