Re: Chapter 2 - Northbound

Seeing the mouth of the cave lead into what looks like total
darkness, Conga casts light (Cantrip) on Juleka's cart, if the
cart is going to fit, and if Juleka or Mikaela don't object. He
then takes up a position 15' behind the rest of the party as we
enter, keeping a mindful eye and ear behind us, his weapon drawn
at the ready.
If Mikaela and cart can't make their way through the cave, then
I will instead look for a volunteer who will allow me to cast on
one of their items, my personal preferences being:
Forhrlit's shield
Juleka's shiny new bracelet
Even's harmonica
Conga: "Let's move forward, and be quick about it. We don't
want to get stuck in this cave!"

The path can accommodate the cart and mule, but as Mikaela gets
inside easily, you all think that a bigger cart might have been
a problem. Even lets Forhrlit take the lead, and watches her
back. Soon, the darkness creeps up a little, so Conga casts his
light spell while Even and Shin light up torches. In the
newfound light, the inside of the cave shines up in thousands of
diamonds, as the clear ice reflects. Under at least two feet of
ice, on the cavern walls, you can see worked stone and torch
sconces. The ceiling features quite a few ice stalactites, but
the floor is almost clear. A thin blueish fog or mist makes a
ghostly sheet around your feet. The chill grips your throats and
stiffens your clothes.
Nonetheless, you all manage to continue for an hour or so,
before coming out of the cave, at the bottom of a deep ravine
extending from south-southwest to north-northeast. The cave
entrance is not at the end of the canyon, which extends to your
left and right. The chill intensifies.

Nature Check for Forhrlit. Trying to figure out the unusual
terrain.
She, at the front line also opens all of her senses of Sight &
Hearing, Perception Check.
She says: "This mist reminds me of stories my mother told. About
mists only my family could traverse . I never understood what
she meant," she looks at Even and then Juleka in the back and
then towards Conga and thinks she sees Shin standing back there
somewhere but can't be quite sure. "This reminds me of those old
stories," she says in a small, trembling voice and looks back
into the fog.. "It's hard to remember but .... maybe I'm wrong."
"Gods, I hope I am.." she whispers and involuntarily steps
backwards whilst taking everything in and grasps Evens forearm
not even realizing it.

Shin says to the group.
"We have come north and west slightly. We can head south and
continue west or we can continue north and go back east a
little. One of these routes could take us back to where we left
from. As to which is best we should consult the map and take the
shortest route to little frost."
Apart from this Shin conversation Shin will continue his
patrolling staying apart from the group. It continuing to report
back every so often.

"Shin, don't go too far away...we're barely traversing these
ravines and caves, let alone navigate through them...I would
hate to go find ya in these treacherous roads if something
happens...strength in numbers and whatnot."
<I OBVIOUSLY didn't left my sword behind or any other piece of
equipment >
"let's go...I hope we reach a town soon, I can stand the nights
in the wilderness but prefer the comfy feeling of a bed and a
warm meal! And I need a warm bath!"

Conga emerges last from the cave, having been defending our
rear. Upon seeing the chill ravine, he suggests that that warm
bath Juleka was craving before might have to wait a bit still.
Fully expecting an ambush from the top of the ravine, he is
mindful to keep an eye towards the top, without actually looking
straight up there, so that if he does see anything/anyone, it
won't be obvious that he does. For now, he will leave his hammer
at his side, and crack his whip through the ravine. It's not
like a group of this size is going to sneak through a ravine
such as this.

After Conga comes out of the cave, Even turns to Juleka and
motions for her to turn the cart right, towards the north.
"Have no fear, Forhrlit, you're not alone in here", says Even.
As he spoke these words, Forhrlit sensed something wrong. Call
it sharp senses, feminine intuition or rogue's sense, but
something was odd. She tries to identify the problem by
recalling her knowledge of this type of terrain, remembering at
once the type of creatures that dwell in such places. Frost
trolls, ettins, and so many other creatures that could be a
challenge. She then focuses her senses on any sign of such
creatures. That is when she noticed the mist on the ground had
disappeared.

Forhrlit frowns and says, "The mist..it.. it's gone", and draws
her sword and redies her shield. "This makes me very nervous..".

Conga yells out to Even... "Hey Even, remember that story you
told me about that woman from the first port you had been to
after being at sea for the entire spring?" "What was her name
again?"
Conga continues to crack his whip, enjoying the crisp sound it
makes at each snap, still mindful of the potential threats this
forest may hold in store.

When Shin hears that the mist has dissipated, he moves to the
group and just lingers with them as we move north through the
ravine. He has a hand on his short sword and a dart ready in his
other hand ready for any attack.
He will take extra care to watch his surroundings until we are
out of the ravine.
