       SUMMARY - In the United States (in the state of California),
       three people have died from Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever (RMSF)
       since July of 2023, according to the Centers of Disease Control
       (CDC). The disease is transmitted via ticks but not from person
       to person. It has a 5-10% fatality rate.
