       Meningococcal Disease - Virginia, USA - Statewide Outbreak

       SUMMARY - The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) has declared a
       statewide outbreak of Meningococcal disease. Since June of 2022,
       27 people have been infected with the disease with 5 of them
       dying. The disease is caused by bacteria as opposed to a virus.
       There is a vaccine for this disease.
