August 11 2025
342 cases of the stomach-churning infection have been seen
across 42 counties between May 1 and Aug. 1, according to the
latest state update. Florida's cases have not been linked to any
specific outbreak.
The next state update will be released on Aug. 13.

Cyclospora Outbreak Keeps Growing, Says the CDC
August 11, 2026
The nationwide cyclospora outbreak keeps growing, according to
the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). As of
August 11, 2026, there are 13,895 confirmed cases and an
additional 10,455 possible cases. Seven hundred forty people
have been hospitalized, and two people, who lived in Michigan,
have died.

These numbers are much lower than the individual state case
counts. But even with the CDC’s lower number, using the
multiplier of 83.1, there could be as many as 2,000,000
Americans sick with this parasitic infection this summer. In
comparison, there were 1,180 cases of this infection last year.

COMMENT:
I'm going to venture to say Eleven of the seventeen
investigations are ongoing which means Cyclospora cases are
still being investigated... I have to say this seems to
contradict the statement that "Cyclospora ‘effectively removed
from the market’ made by the FDA chief. Unless I am confused
about something The FDA also is stating many cases are still in
the process of being conducted.

Connecticut: Connecticut cases of cyclosporiasis this year were
up to 91 as of Aug. 11, the state Department of Public Health
said today. The number had been at 52 as of July 17, and 23 on
July 1. Connecticut had its first case reported May 2, and has
had four hospitalizations to date. In comparison, the state had
32 cases in 2025.

Cyclosporiasis cases in US climb to 17,180, CDC says

The CDC said it has received reports of 17,180 ​confirmed
cases across 48 states plus ​the District of Columbia,
with 922 hospitalizations and ⁠two deaths as of August 24.
At ​least 11,844 additional cases may require further
investigation ​and analysis, CDC said.
The data include the cases reported in the ongoing multistate
outbreak linked to recalled iceberg ​lettuce, CDC said,
adding that it is investigating ​multiple clusters of
cyclosporiasis.
CDC and FDA are investigating at least ‌six ⁠other
clusters for which sources have not yet been confirmed, CDC
said.
Michigan, the hardest-hit state, logged a slow 3% rise to 14,277
last week, ​hinting the ​outbreak may ⁠be
easing.
The cyclosporiasis outbreak is one of the largest foodborne
illness events ​in recent U.S. history. The illness
​is ⁠caused by the cyclospora parasite, which can
lead to diarrhea, nausea and other gastrointestinal symptoms.
The outbreak ⁠has shaken ​U.S. consumers nationwide,
causing ​many to forgo eating fresh produce or dining in
restaurants.
